Discussion: Plate & Mat

Well up here in the Nort land of billions of bugs. we have played MAT Ball for many years. In Wis, they have leagues called just that. MAT BALL one stike hits the mat, your out, So you better be swinging. Makes the game go faster. Now in Minnesota, we have been using the MAT since the 1970s. Hits the mat twice and your out. Three balls and Two strikes, but we play nine innings. 40 games a season. We have over 250 ball players, from55 to 85. Senior Softball in Rosville.
The question is? Where are the rules for size of the MAT?

Discussion: 1ST Baseman's mitt

Hey, we play under our own rules per league. What we vote on is what we have followed for years. SSUSA and if they follow the rules of ASA than there is no rule against any glove (mitt) that can be used at any position. You can use a first baseman glove (mitt) in the outfield as well as the infield. As long as they don't go beyond the 14 inch length. And now they call all gloves MITTS.

Discussion: Ultra 2 Miken

Anyone out there in softball land ever thought about having your Ultra 2 bat weight check? So far the ones that I have checked with a weigh scale do not weigh the OZ that is marked on the button on the handle! 26 oz weighs 27.4 27 oz weighs more than 28 oz. The 28 Oz weighs close to 30 OZ plus. Doesn't sound like much, but in a course of a weekend tourny, it does take it's toll on the extra OZ being used! No reply from Miken after sevral weks on this subject. Maybe thay want to get rid of their bats and they think we would not catch them at it? Ummm.
