Kalamazoo Merchants 50+ will be competing in AAA. Teams beware, Chet Baranski will be at full strength!! Would be nice to see how many teams will be playing this year.

No doubt the fields for the ISF were great last year,i.e. bathrooms in the dugout. The trip by auto from Michigan was 12-13 hours. Only 2 major+ teams and the major teams entered were subpar, the balls were dead, and it was ASA (egads).
Champaign was a treat to play in for the last 3 years.
However, it might be worth the gamble to give Chicago area a chance for this year, with the hope SS-USA goes back to Champaign next year. I recall that some were concerned about some of the facilities last year in Phoenix. I talked to a team that played on the facility in question and they were pleased with the complex. SS-USA
is in my opinion the best senior organization overall, although there have been several decisions in the past that leave me scratching my head.
Hopefully, the Midwest Championships
will be a positive experience.

Discussion: Congrads to Geckle Builders

Wagon487-Thanks for the props, however Gekle's is not ready to step to the Major+ division. They handled the major opposition well, which, in my opinion was subpar this year. They played Damon's (Major+) and was easily mercied by them.
Champaigne will be a much better test of their "greatness".
The ISF put on a nice tourney (despite some scheduling snafus)-excellant facilities, good field maintenance, good umps and nice weather. However, once again the balls used (Baden-Luxem) would be better suited for a pumpkin patch rather than a world tournament. Gekle's played the finals with their outfielders playing 150-200ft against a major team. Does that say something about the ball and/or the competition?
The Champions of the 55AAA stated that they thought their competition was not on par with past years as they mercied all or nearly all of their opponents.
Many teams complained about the ball which is of no surprise when it comes to ASA sponsored events. Could this be the cause of better teams deciding bypassing this tournament for other associations, especially with the current cost of travel? Teams will probably be more selective.
With the tournament cost, cost of travel, and price of hotels, I doubt if Gekle's will be back next year to defend their title.

Mention to that guy, Chet, (Kalamazoo Merchants) that I was surprised to see him playing this weekend. Not only can't he get out of the way of a thrown ball (South Bend), it seems he can't even now get out of his own way. LOL . Chet, don't they have a 60 and under (IQ) you can play on in Decatur. Good luck the rest of the year.

Congradulations on your tournament victory, Kalamazoo Merchants. It is about time your team showed some courage and played AAA. This game is mainly mental and you have to have confidence in each other. You can't win if you walk on the field already beat!

Discussion: LVSSA'S MASTERS-- Do not come,if,u r scheduled to play @ FREEDOM

Have played in the LVSSA Masters the last 4 years. Have played at Desert Breeze (very nice), Lorenzi (OK) and Freedom Park last year (bad). We are scheduled to play again at Freedom Park this year (50 Major). If they are in worse condition than last year, what a downer that will be! Lorenzi was beatiful compared to Freedom.
What can you do when you already have paid your entry fee, plane tickets, car rental and hotel? I plan to contact LVSSA about the playing conditions of Freedom Park by E-Mail and wait for their reply.
I did mention to our team, they did not play there last year, about how disappointed they will be in Freedom Park.
Will Desert Breeze be used this year? If not, what a waste of a beautiful complex.

Chet-Heard through the grapevine your so-called world championship team is having a get together at the Main Street Pub.
I bet with that group all together ,people at the pub will probably think your sorry bunch won the "Senior Special Olympics"!
Your IQ's added all together would not add up to double digits!
If I stop there by chance tonight, I will keep my promise and buy you that Shirley Temple, slugger!

Congratulations on another LVSSA World Championship, Chet.
What is that, 3out of the last 4 years and that organization hasn't moved that Kalamazoo team to a higher division?
There is another name for sandbaggers- CHEATERS!!
Crawl from under your security blanket and play with the big boys.
P.S. My team is looking for a designated runner-interested? In addition maybe your big "sweet" homerun hitter could use some lipstick and rouge during gametime?

Chet-Great tourney! What, 0-5!
how many strikeouts did you have? That throw to your leg must have hindered your swing for you to keep hitting foul balls for outs!
Tell your "roided" buddy to worry less about a batter's box and more about catching fly balls hit over his head in the outfield.
Your AAA team (ha!) better stay at home instead of going to Vegas in October. To be more specific, you should retire and become a nun!
P.S. If you do decide to come to Vegas, I will buy you a drink (a Shirley Temple), slugger!

Chet- I will also be at Schaumberg on the 7th & 8th and am salivating at putting a ball between your eyes if you dare to stay in the way of my double-play throw.
I suggest you stay home and do something safe like the laundry or putting your make-up on.
If you do show up, I will be scoping the Kalamazoo bench to see if you have moved up to team batboy.
P.S. Bring an ice-pack to soothe that knot on you noggin if you get in the way of an "errant throw."

chet-by viewing your reply, you must have also been hit in the head as well or are you just Polish.!
I am from the old school and if you are in the baseline or will not get down I'm coming hard to 1st
and I pity the fool (Chet) if you play like Reggie Jackson and purposely get in the way of the ball. You must have scrambled eggs for brains.
Stay safe and enjoy the rest of the summer play.
P.S. Buy a video on sliding, Chet.

The Kalamazoo Warriors are definitely an AAA team. They have won 2 AA worlds at Vegas in the last 3 years. They probably could play major. The one player that played for the Warriors that hits the long ball does play for Jackson Merchants and rumor has it that he is all "roided" up.
Also, someone should tell the guy from Kalamazoo that got hit with the ball on a double play attempt and was hurt should either slide or get out of the baseline. He definitely was interfering with the play.
