Discussion: Clear plastic facemasks

Don't use the plastic ones, they aren't safe and according to some ratings they will maybe stop a 70mph ball, while most balls you would be concerned about will be traveling about 100+. Simple physics says that is more than twice the energy of the 70MPH.
Get a good helmet because the 1st reaction is to turn the head away leaving the temple exposed!!!!

Discussion: Music City Was A Below Average Experince

I would like to add comments, all Id's were checked to the best that we could determine. There was no water in any of the dugouts or outside of them. Fields appeared playable Saturday morning at 8:00 but start was delayed until 11:00, losing 3 hours of playing time as directed by City. Fields were no better at 11:00 and game times cut to 40 minutes. Waited about 25 minutes in between games because no umpire was available, so very bad management of umpires. Umpires didn't know the rules and very inconsistent on calls along with lead feet that didn't move from behind home plate. Only one umpire for start of double elimination bracket plate. Can't control the weather, but very poorly organized and run. Time lost between games resulted in close to normal times of scheduled. Not a good impression for a 1st tournament.

Discussion: NSA (52/275) and ASA (52/300) Ball Review

Have had two leagues switch to the new NX3 ball and nothing but good news about the ball. Our league tried them in fall ball and recorded games played. We actually used one ball for 12 games and it still hit good, nothing but good reviews on the NX3. TATTOO HAS A WINNER IN THE NX3!!!!

Discussion: Miken U2 Black Maxload

Gorilla Boy,

I returned a Miken Ultra Black Balanced to Miken on Monday for review and warranty with the exact same symptoms as Perl is talking about, rattle in the handle and poor performance although it had very few swings on it and not even a mark on the barrel but sounded bad hitting and just dropping to ground. Grabbing the barrel and tapping the handle to rug was really bad. Just FYI, I have an RA# if needed.

Thanks,

Budda12
You need to talk to the Salesperson or rep that you bought from, I have had several end caps break and all have been replaced with a new bat. Also all have been balanced bats and none of the endloads.

Discussion: face masks

As a pitcher I was against the mask at first and then when it was mandated I changed my mind and am totally for it. I use it in local league and it has saved me several times, not from the line drive but from balls that have hit the pitchers rubber and take the unpredictable bad hops. I sure I would have had a broken jaw on several of the impacts off the mask. IF IT IS ALL ABOUT SAFETY GET RID OF THE PITCHING RUBBER AND USE A LINE, NOBODY USES THE RUBBER ANYWAY AND MOST ARE STICKING UP, BROKEN IN PLACES OR HAVE BEEN DAMAGED FROM DRAGGING.

BAND THE RUBBER!!!!!!

Put over 200 swings on a 27oz balanced Saturday and it was really opening up after the first 100. I will have this bat in Montgomery for demo this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Discussion: New ADStarr ball

Tried a dozen of these balls for our fall league 44/375 and have been very impressed with quality and durability of the balls. They do make a very nice crack off the bat and are consistent with distance whether new or after several games. We used several for 10 games and can't tell any difference in performance and they do clean very easily. Only negative is that the stamping/lettering on the ball disappears in a couple of innings, since you can easily tell the difference between composite/leather/synthetic balls will probably be no problem in league where the league buys and provides all the balls, but could the stamping durability be improved? Also this ball will solve any issue with BP balls being old, worn out, out of round or water logged, they just stay the same. Thanks, Kevin

Discussion: Bat weights

End loaded means just that, not that it should weigh more, a 27 is a 27 whether balanced or endloaded, it's just where the weight is at. I have never weighed a Miken that was not over weight and many 1 to 2 ounces over and as high as 3.
I have an original with ASA stamp and it was a 27oz that weighs 29.7ozs.
