Mad Dog,

Ron only hit one out but hit a lot scuds.
I took a whole batch of cookies but since you weren't there I only gave one out. LOL
Great run tourney and we played well the whole tourney going 6-0, scoring in every inning of every game.
Championship game was thriller against Jersey Masters and just glad we had the hammer but didn't have to use it.
The best SPORTSMANSHIP and CLASS teams that I've every played against.
Also the best UMPS that I've seen overall.
Congrats to all teams that played and all the UMPS that did a great job.

Discussion: HOF Pitcher

Birdie,

I played against him several times when he pitched for the STEELERS as we always had a celebrity charity game at the SOKOL camp. The STEELERS always picked up a pitcher to make sure the the game would be close. Man he was a card and I guess he would have been designated the JOKER with all his motions actions and jestures.
Many memories from those games.
I struck John Banasak out and the STEELERS were all over him, well the next time up he hit a piss rocket that hit the plyword fence and knocked a hole in it and then per quote said "NOW LAUGH"!!!!!!!
Sure glad he didn't hit it at me.

Discussion: How would you feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two years ago 4 of us joined a new team.
I was asked first to join the team and proceeded to get the 3 other teamates to join because we all wanted to stay together and improve the team.
After the first year 1 moved up to the 65 team and made his intentions well know all year that he would be moving up. This past year we (me and other two players) decided to stay with the current team and made our decision known to the team in June/July. Now I find out by e-mail the other two have left the team and are moving up. No discussion or information that they were going to move on.
I considered all these guys friends and teamates and feel as if I have been betrayed by the two. I know they have the right to go anywhere they want to but feel betrayed because I stuck my neck out to get them on a the team orginally and they didn't even offer me the courtesy of a phone call or e-mail to dicuss, just a mass e-mail to the team.

Comments please

Hombre,

Great post, just can't understand why we have to put up with this type of muck from somebody who doesn't even play.
Maybe he was the little kid who got picked on and now can hide behind his keyboard and feel big and strong.

Oh yea I smell it Now!!!!!!!!!!!

Mad Dog got any Combats for sale cheap?????????

Yes it is and since most of the complaining and non-agreeing is done by by someone who doesn't even go to the big tourneys.

Discussion: Faults of SPA

SPA continues to shoot itself in the foot.
Rules not followed and rules not defined and that leaves a very bad taste in the teams mouth.
Numerous teams said they wouldn't be back and won't go to future SPA tournaments.
NEVER NEVER NEVER should a AAA team have to give runs to a Major team. Point proven in that the teams receiving runs were the winners!!!!!!
Yes it is supposed to be new teams but everybody including SPA officials knew in advance who the MAJOR teams were and did not put them in the correct brackets.
NOT the TEAMS fault they played where they were put but should have been playing in their age group and not getting runs.

Also how does a player play on two teams in the same bracket??? After his first teams is eliminated he goes to another team in the same bracket and plays, come on SPA we pay good money and this isn't a back yard tourney where players switch teams every game. This was a Winter National Championship, NOT a back yard barbeque!!!!!!!

Discussion: Pitching rubbers

Here's one that happened to me caused by the rubber.

ASA Nationals 2008 against Southland Log Homes, 52 hopper and I'm back pedalling and have to come forward in a hurry, just get to mound and start to reach for ball when it comes up and whacks me good. Used butterfly strips and did 4 more games but we came in second. Was told I looked like a turkey gobbler with the blood dripping strips hanging of my chin. You know the guys who were laughing and trying to keep me up.
I also had one in Dalton last weekend hit by Mad Dog that hit the corner of the rubber which was sticking up more than an inch and went high over my head to the outfield.

As per a quote "Mr Ballfield get rid of that dam Rubber"
or at least make it so it can be covered without a big hump. Definetly a safety concern for pitchers and yes it's it's unusual but I have a friend that was hit back in the 80's from a ball off the rubber and he's still having problems.

Discussion: 52/275 Ball

There have been numerous studies on the polycore balls and TaTTooball is totaly correct. Polyurethane is a temperature sensitive material. If you don't believe it try putting some balls in you trunk on a 90 degree day and then take them out later and hit them, the compression is really bad. As Mad Dog said only the MCT balls perform well in the heat.
The rule of thumb is for every 10 degrees above 70 the balls loose 25psi of compression, just the about the same as Tattoo's comment only in 10 degree increments.
