March 20, 2007 hornachec | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: New Format for 50's and 55's sounds good for the players, but the organizations wouldn't be able to get as much money back from the host cities, 'cause we wouldn't be in their towns, spending our money for that extra day or so! |
Feb. 28, 2007 hornachec | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: TOC Tourney Ideas-Increase the Field Bernie: Of the 12 tournaments to get an invite to the TOC, six of them are held east of the Mississippi. Why not enter those tournaments |
Jan. 18, 2007 hornachec | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: How many batted ball injuries can you attribute to U2 bats? Hit the Gap If ASA isn't listening to you, have you thought about trying a different organization? I see your are in Spokane, The Wenatchee league and Seattle league use SSUSA in Washington. They have a great insurance program, you can get balls for $28 a dozen and use the bats you want. If you want more information contact me at: jim-ssusa-wa@hotmail.com I can also get you in touch with state UIC about training umpires in your area. |
Dec. 2, 2006 hornachec | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: tournament of champs Talking with Fran, you use the roster that you won your berth with and if your roster drops below 14 you can add players to bring roster up to 14. SSUSA MUST okay your pick -up players. To me that doesn't quite seem right. The right couple of players can really change the dynamics of a team... If you have 10 healthy players, that's what you play with. Another thing, Winners of Winter Worlds of 2006 should be invited to the 2007 tournament of champions. Aren't you using your 2007 roster? How can you judge what division a team should be playing at before they even play a tourney? The tournament director puts a new team in lets say AA and they really should be AAA or major, win the winter worlds or winter nationals and get to play in tournament of champions? Doesn't seem fair! Also think tournament should be in November and winter worlds, should actually be played in winter, not middle of fall. Just my opinion would like to here from others |

Sept. 6, 2006 hornachec | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: No Teams East of Mississippi in Seattle?? Have been reading your comments on having the tournament in Seattle, Please have your city contact Senior softball and place a bid to host the world tournamnet. The city of Kent has some of the best fields you'd ever want to play on. Sorry you guys will be missing it! Forecast for the next 10 days is Temps in the 70's , with a CHANCE of showers on Saturday. We've traveled all over the U S to play, kind of wish the tourney was somewhere else, because instead of enjoying a new part of the United States, I'll be home doing yard work after the ball games! Jim - Seattle |
Aug. 17, 2006 hornachec | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Seattle Tournament All the games will be played south of seattle. If you click on tournaments and go to world championship, click on details and it gives locations of fields and hotels. all the fields are within 10 - 15 minutes of the airport (except during evening rush hour) Hotels in Des Moines, Ferderal Way, Sea-Tac, Kent, Renton, would be fine... downtown seattle is great, but 15 miles from fields and traffic can be very nasty. North of seattle a definate no and same for Bellevue, traffic is horrlble getting south almost any time of the day! |
