BIG CAT ole buddy.....was talking w/your old friend Cobbie recently....we were recalling how the ASA Men's Major (young guys) , has a limit of 10 HR'S & that big exposition game with the USA & Canada ,on ESPN each year, has a limit of 10 HR'S. That game has some very strategic moments each year when those guys show their versatality w/the bat to keep it in the park late in the game. Take care pal........AAA-3 hr's , then outs.

To "the answer"....1st of all U must abide by the "border rule". Roster wise , a team may replace 1 for 1 , meaning for each guy that cant go , U can replace them w/player of same level up to 13 names.....U cant just play on any team. Even if you want to take an older guy , he still must be on the same skill level or lower.....Hope this helps you..Ron P.S. been there , done that.

Last year , our team received a Combat back pack ( half - sized ) bat / equipment bag with shoulder straps . Something like you would use to transport your gear while riding on a motor cycle . I have yet to see anyone on my team or anyone on any other team , utilize 1 of these "white elephants"....

MARIO:You guys have the best Senior Team I have ever seen. What did U think about that Louisville 50 Major team ?..... HEARTLAND allows you to have 2 players "off" your border & 2 players 1 year younger....

Discussion: Slowpitch, US National team vs US Futures team on ESPN2 at 8:00pm or ES2HD

Ironically , I happened to be listening to the "Jim Rome Show" on the radio at noon the following Monday after the game. The softball game between team USA & The Futures became the topic. He was very harsh about the players & the game itself. He called them "a bunch of 5'10 , 310 lb slobs.I never cared much for Jim Romes big mouth & his self described knowledge of every sport. Anyone know if he ever even played anything or just relies on his big mouth to get his personal points accross & make money doing it ?

Discussion: Barberton ; Any sour notes ?

I attended Barberton Tourney last week . Besides " blacked out " scoreboards , everybody was talking about the batter boxes . It was like hitting out of a slippery 6 inch hole in the ground . Many players were complaining about the footing . One of our guys fell (he was not the only one) while swinging & received a small hemotoma on his wrist & was bleeding . The place actually takes you down memory lane from whence many ballparks in the 50's & 60's were situated up & down a street . Other than those 2 issues , we had a good time with " Red "......So so tired of playing in big tournaments with no scoreboards.

Discussion: Stop the 3 day tournaments

3 Days ! How about 4 ! Take for instance Plano . We have played there at least 5 or 6 times . You leave home on Wednesday & get back on the following Monday . But , the real kicker to some of these tournaments is that a lot of times during the seeding , you play 1 game on a particular day .

That would be Floyd from Grand Rapids...Yes , he does not use a senior bat. I believe he uses a "mayhem". And he has been idle for 5 months....

Kinnico , from Michigan & Indiana wins the 55 Major. They are a fine team, veteran players doing it together....Hats off to SSUSA for putting together an indoor feast , ran and orchestrated like a "Hollywood Production"......Yes , again the weather became a factor. It was cold every morning & Sunday morning was no exception,33 degrees with a 40 mph wind. It really takes a lot of the fun out of it when the weather misbehaves like that.Spectators wrapped in blankets were abundant.....Isn't the month of February considered as the coldest month of the year no matter where you are in the USA ?....3 years in a row , of cold weather , should deem worthy of strong consideration for changing the dates of the TOC to an earlier date....Teams scramble all season long to qualify & dont go. I believe they must be looking at their "Farmers Almanac" & trusting its long term outlook of the forecast....And last but not least , another "Major" senior softball tournament with no electronic scoreboards....And I do mean another.
