Discussion: New MTC 55 Jayvee team looking to add NorCal talent

Tim, All great guys on BOTH MTC squads...Yes I had the pleasure of playing with both the Varsity and JV guys this past weekend as you mentioned....I can't say enough about the great attitudes and talent of them all.

Both teams will be fun to play against in NCSSA next season...the more teams the better.

It's not Dodgers vs Giants...but it could be a good rivalry...Do I sense a little dissension in your comments Tim?

Sorry Leelee... :-)

Ultimately... He will be taking somebody's spot in the lineup. It will be interesting to see how that affects team chemistry on an already established roster.

Discussion: You Make The Call

Great explanation Dave...I guess I owe an apology to someone.
He did make the right call...and we went on to win the game anyway, but I thought for sure, it was considered a force play.

Discussion: You Make The Call

Situation: Bases Loaded and 1 out.

Play: Line drive hit to outfield, outfielder makes a diving catch, umpire calls it a catch and an out. Runner on third tags and goes home, runner on first was running on the play and never tags, he stops two feet before reaching 2nd base...ball gets thrown to second baseman who then tags the runner out going back to first base for an inning ending double play. The runner on third scored before the tag was made for the third out.

Question: Does the run count?

NCS13...catcher for sure...you forgot to mention having to keep the umpire entertained for 7 innings, most of these guys have are a strange lot indeed and being able to converse with them can be mentally draining.
Plus running down those bad bounces we get when the ball hits the corner of the mat...bending over to pick those up can throw your back out in a heartbeat.
Tough position indeed...

Let's put down the torches and pitchforks townspeople...

I'm sure that SSUSA will handle this properly and it may be that they already have.
It also may be that they don't have to make public their actions.

AJC...this weekend the HOF tournament is a NCSSA sanctioned event.
Balls will be provided and kept in the umpires care the whole time.
But I'm sure the barbs and comments will be flying around.
It will be interesting to say the least.

Not sure about that one So Cal Z...might have to prove altered equipment was used in all previous games. You would only be assuming they did at this point in time.

This is unacceptable.

What is it, that makes someone have to cheat to win softball games...seriously?

This team was also made up of primarily Law enforcement officers.

I know a few guys on this team and I can't believe they would have done or allowed anything like this.

I have to agree with Tim, I think the ones who are responsible for this need to step up and take responsibility for their actions.

Discussion: NorCal Warriors bumped to Major Plus

Interesting weekend at the Western Nationals in the Sacramento area.

Congratulations to Sommerville Softball for winning the 50's Major Plus division.
Great team and great guys.

I was proud of our Warrior team and I think we held our own out there and had some very good competitive games.

Looking forward to Las Vegas next month and the privilege of playing the top teams in Senior Softball.

Discussion: NorCal Warriors bumped to Major Plus

Tim...all great points...I brought most of these items up when discussing this with SSUSA yesterday, but they fell on deaf ears.

Reasoning behind the bump was that we won our games by a total of almost 7 runs per game.
However, in bracket play we won by 1, 2 and 5 runs respectively.

I'm not going to harp on this, we will accept the punishment...er bump and we will continue to go out and battle as best we can with the roster we have.
You will hear nobody from our team bitching and moaning about this.

We will do the dance as they say...

Oh and the kicker...we got the notice one day after they cashed our check for the Western Nationals...

Discussion: What was to consensus on DBO Homerun rule after Rock N Roll Reno?

I don't think it affected any of the games we played in Tim...at the Major Level.
I believe there was one game where the other team hit one too many for an out.
but they won the game anyway.

Our team didn't hit the magic number in any of our games...but then, we didn't play that well.

Didn't see too much middle hitting...no more than usual anyway.

Scores were about the same or slightly lower than usual.

Not sure how this rule affects Major Plus, but I believe the HR DBO rules is perfect for Major teams.

Discussion: Throwing

Arm strength can be improved, but one shouldn't be throwing weighted balls or anything other that the ball they will be throwing. And the arm strength you get from lots of extra throwing won't be life changing, it will only slightly improve what you do have as well as your endurance.

Discussion: Pickle Juice

HJ....what I'm reading is that Pickle Juice has about the same sodium content as Alka Seltzer...

Alka Seltzer: Sodium Content 445mg per tablet
Vlassic Pickle: 880 mg Sodium (that's just the pickle...the juice I'm sure is much more concentrated).

So it seems that Sodium is a big contributor in both of these products.

All I know is... neither have been scientifically proved or disproved, but I have tried both in the past, and they have both seemed to work for me.
