Discussion: Happy New Year

Just wanted to wish all a wonderful happy and safe New Year in 2016. We made it another year and over the past year have lost some close friends. I look at each time I get to the field as a blessing and find that as time passes I enjoy the friendship with you guys as much as I look forward to playing a game I still love to play. Bless each of you. Hugs to all. Gary Ingle-CJS Express 60's.

Discussion: new rule 6.16 WIND OR SUN AFFECTING BOTH PITCHERS

First of all before I get to discussion, I want to say to all you that have or continue to have health issues that keep you from the game, We miss you. Terry I continue to keep you in my prayers. I heard from Cisco's wife the other day. Cisco who continues to put up a brave fight with his stroke here in PHX area keeps striving to improve . I miss you on the field and just seeing you in every day life. Bless each of you as you all work to overcome these difficult moments in life.
As for the sun issue, I played last month for 1st time where we CJS played with the sun right in the eyes and umpire told us about rule. As a hitter yes it was nice to see the ball but as a pitcher the batters get enough breaks. I am more concerned with what occurs when the pitcher cannot see the batters box due to sun. That is scary and moving to a better angle while giving up the middle makes it safer for us pitchers. Just a thought or if possible move field locations. We pitchers are already covered up so much at least we should be able to see the ball when it is coming at us. DC great to here from you my friend.
Please all of you have a safe and wonderful new year and if you happen to have a grudge against someone, FORGIVE, life is just to short to not at least be respectful to each other in the world. That's my Christmas wish for you all. May we all be color blind. Hugs and see you in 2016.Bless you, Gary Ingle

Discussion: Can you get faster?

Easy Dave, that's like me asking a lady if she is expecting a child (and was not) Dave and Webbie I found I gained some speed when I tried a walker. HA happy holidays my friends, Gary Ingle. And Dave you would have been proud of your senior softball 4-some at Sunshine Acres golf tournament . Finished 3rd with 220 golfers and walked up front and donated 3rd place money back to kids and challenged rest of top 5 teams to do the same. 4 of 5 teams turned money back to the kids.Bless all..PS Webbie what if you have Barney rubble legs.

Hi DBAX, hope you did well. You are right some of those AAA 60's sure looked good. I just wanted to say a quick thank you to the medical crew and EMT group that came out so fast to respond to helping one of our LVSSA Raiders 60's player that was overcome with heat stroke. It was nice to see so many trying to help him out. They took him to hospital and he went home today. I felt that we did a amazing job being short handed after losing Dale and two others to injuries but we still played 7 games winning 3 games in regular tournament after bracket games done. . I also want to thank Terry for giving us all another year to play softball. I am thankful and blessed to still be on the field. Take care Winter Worlds coming in Nov. May your best be better and your better BLESSED. Gary Ingle

Discussion: Religious ceremonies at tournaments

Just wanted to say thanks for all that gave a view. It may not be to long before that right is taken from us. To be honest Webbie you are right on and a wise man for taking a moral high ground. I would rather any day hear a positive word on the field than some of the words that should get a player kicked out of the game. I work with school kids everyday for past 38 years and they listen and learn from what they see dad grandpa etc do on the field and everywhere else. Hearing the F word every day has become a common thing . The kids think it is ok also and I have often been called a cuss word at school by a student and later a parent who is upset that his child was in trouble for expressing his feelings. I tell the kids no one ever wins in a fight or with a put down word. I struggle with our leaders saying old ways of living no longer matter. The recent 5-4 supreme court rule showed Christans no longer are respected but as believers we should understand that this is the way it will continue till the end. As was said before If I am wrong for believing than it will not matter we just die but what if we are right? I work with people of different and no beliefs Gays etc. I have no problem with that in fact they are some of my most trusted people I work with at school etc. They respect my views and I respect theirs right back.Best thing I remember about my dad who worked 40 plus years in steel mill was when another worker came up to me and said some people talk religion and others like your dad live it. I want to be the same as my father. I mess up but I hope I can find a way to make it right with you if I do offend. Hugs to all my friends playing a kids game. Peace-GI

Discussion: Best of luck this week

Hi all that are involved this next week in Vegas. Just wanted to say have fun enjoy the game and the people around you. We never know when this could our last chance to give a hug, say a kind word etc. I found out last night that someone close to me may have Cancer and it really makes other things seem so little. I love our game of softball and am really thankful to all of you who are a part of the game. With games starting in two days and our bracket starting on Friday there will be many people and faces from the past to say hello and play against again. Thanks to all of you and enjoy the ride. Bless you Terry, Fran, Dave and George and rest of crew for letting us old timers still plays a kid's game. As Rocky would say Keep punching Appolo. Hugs GI PS Webbie--- Move over Webbie, (That's a side joke between some of his teammates)

Discussion: AZ Roadrunners have disbanned

First of all I want to thank several of you guys who have called and said keep our heads up. That was a nice thing to do.So many have been kind and it is nice to be thought of. I also heard from guys in mesquite yesterday and Hunters and Tucson Bandits were doing very well and leading the 55 division and playing for championships. Both those teams are a good bunch and hunters are giving up some age to compete with 55's. After attending church today I have to say it really is not so bad for us guys who are looking for a team. One of our church leaders returned today from her 3rd heart surgery and another lady just finished her first treatment from cancer. SO WHAT DO I HAVE TO BE CONCERNED OVER. Puts things in a different view for sure.Anyway just wanted to close this with much thanks . Bless each of you and if I can ask but one thing from you,,, How about we all be COLOR BLIND when looking at each other. GI

Thanks Tom, I too remember you guys well. My former coach from 10 years ago for AZ. Mob 50's is Mike Mule we played Major and AAA level. I am not sure I ever got him out . He loves my pitching and played for you guys. Saw Mike last weekend in tournament. I am hopeful after such a long time in playing that I will land somewhere. Feel free to call me at 480-981-6406 if ever you need someone for fun tournament I know I will be playing with Q-Man from Rouge and other teams in Pinetop this June. I understand Prescott has a tournament coming up in May. One thing I know is God always has a plan. Just like I tell the students at school SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO TAKE A STEP BACK TO SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE.I am fine with that. Bless you for your kind words and see you on the field. Gary I.

I must have missed the survey but I also never saw the survey to make pitching rule 1-1. I sure hated to miss that one because as a pitcher I hate 0-0 count. Must have went to junk mail. I too on a teachers salary for the 49th ranked state on education (AZ) with more cuts coming this year, Thanks GOV. have a modest income. Most of my travel went to softball in past. GI

Discussion: AZ Roadrunners have disbanned

It was with much sadness that I read today that the AZ Roadrunners who had been moved up to major last Oct after finishing 3rd in World have decided to break up the team. I can understand and agreed with them asking senior softball to drop them back to AAA after 3 tournaments. Having seen them lose badly in Major competition and after Palm Springs being drilled by 4 Major teams going 0-5 and losing most games by double figures it was a easy call to ask for help. We did win one game in Jan- Feb at Rick Seifman's tournament but that was by 1 run to a AA 60 team.. I hold no anger with the people in charge as I consider them to be good friends and they have gone way beyond in helping me in past with the Children's Home golf tournament each year. I have had such a wonderful streak by being able to pitch past 30 years and being a part of CJS Express to win the Triple Crown and Worlds in 50 division 5 years ago. We also won a TOC in AAA the first year it was offered. I am blessed and if I never play again I can be thankful for the chances I have had to face some of the best . It was nice to be competitive in last Sundays game where we lost by one run and I at 62 was lucky to hit a inside park Home Run and strike out 3 guys at the plate. You guys know I am no speed demon. HA. I have already set up my trip for Vegas in April and Myself and wife will still be going for the 3 days even not playing. Since we can now play to 85 and over I am sure this is not my last time to play but I plan to set back and see what occurs. Maybe this is God's way to tell me he wants me in more Sunday church services as I sing up front when I am not playing. I wish not only former Roadrunners but all of you much success. Life is a blessing and stay happy. We are winning by just being on the field.Thank you terry Fran George and Dave for putting on a program to give us a chance to play at our age. Hugs to all Gary Ingle

Discussion: who won AZ 60 Siefman tournament past weekend at Papago?

Was just wondering who ended up winning this past weekend in the 60 AAA division at Papago. Looked like Ambush and couple other teams were winning when we left after game time mix up. My guess Ambush as they have been on a great role with winning Winter Worlds and several other tournaments. Great bunch of guys.
