Discussion: Easton Bell Corp Sr Bat

Local Rep gave me one of these in the wrapper a few months ago. I didn't think much of it. Back in the 90's Easton Sponsored my team and gave us several of the old UTrip Version of the Bell Corp. Although it was a very live bat 30 years ago, every one we used dented (more like caved in) and was unusable in less than 50 swings.

Finally took mine out of the wrapper this week (this bat might have been a year old?) and looks like same colors as the ones in the 90's

WOW, lots of "Pop". Seems durable so far, however doesn't have many swings on it yet.

Anybody have any luck with these? Are they still making them? Looks like all 2022's on line

Checking Status on this tourney that has been full for quite a while / with a waiting list.

My team unfortunately on the waiting list :(

Only taking 46 teams (all divisions) total which makes me think all games are scheduled for Lincoln Park, which isn't a bad thing since the conditions at Dunn the past few years have been sub-par/ not national tourney worthy.

When will final decisions be made on waiting list? Doesn't seem anybody we know is dropping out?

Thanks Nancy, we always seem to cross paths on the way to and from the restrooms as we did on Friday :)

Yes, we too had a lot of down time Friday and headed for the casino, we were done playing our 2nd seeding game at about 10:15AM with 24 hours to kill.

I will say the GPS route showed us " A LOT OF CORN"

First of All I would like to thank Amy Jackson and the entire ISA Staff as I thought this was a very, very well run tournament overall, as it is most every year. Thank You ! Well done!

I believe the Secondary Complex (Dunn Stadium) (which we also played at on Sunday), was needed for use this weekend, since the overall number of teams increased from 46 to I think around 58 (give or take?) .

Lincoln Park was very, very good in my opinion. I do agree Dunn Stadium is not a tournament level complex at all. Dunn needs a lot of work. From Outfields being in bad shape, not level, lots of bad hops, dugouts weren't big enough for an entire team to fit inside, 2nd base was on the cut of the outfield grass (short and 2nd had to play on the grass) several openings in the fences for balls to go out of play.

At the end of the weekend we still got to play softball and we had a great time although finishing 2 runs behind in the Championship game.

One of the ISA guys said there is a better facility to use as a secondary complex in Shelbyville but it was not available this past weekend?? I've never been to that one, so I don't know?

I would like to suggest, and I believe this topic has been brought up to both SSUSA and ISA in the past, but it would be outstanding if we could get our schedules on line in real time. I had to wait for phone calls to find out when next game is (or hang around the field for a few hours) to find out what time next game would be or how the seeding games on Friday would pan out for Saturday Schedule.

I think it has something to do with the 5 game guarantee (and triple elimination bracket) for a small number of teams? I don't think an App like "quick scores" as one example can work with the extra games in that bracket? I'm not an I.T. person but you'd think somebody could make that work?

Maybe it would be better to play 3 seeding games to start and go straight to the double elimination for all??? But I'd also say Maybe I wouldn't want to do that / because on days when its 95/100+ degrees, why play an extra game and risk fatigue or injury if you don't have to?

Just wanted to say thanks to Amy Jackson and Michael Caldwell for a very, very well run tournament last weekend in Indiana. Fields were in great shape, weather cooperated, umpires we had for our games were excellent. Also a shout out to SSUSA staff for helping them out as needed.

Thanks GK

Topic: Rules of the game
Discussion: just wondering the rule

Different Association, similar story. I have always "exchanged" game balls with the coach in front of the umpire before the coin flip at tourneys. One time I didn't.

Last Year on the last day of a tourney, the pitcher from opposing team comes up to me and tells me he is pitching & if he could have the game ball, about five minutes before the coin flip. I didn't think much of it so gave him a game ball. I go out to coach 3rd & our lead off hitter hits a foul ball down the line............ sounded weird, left fielder threw it to the 3rd baseman, off line right to me...........it wasn't the game ball at all. It was a used piece of mush. I called it out to the ump and opposing pitcher immediately. "Ump" didn't/ wouldn't do anything. But I told our batter to stay out of the box and asked where the game ball was?? The Pitcher I gave it to, played dumb for a minute, but he gave it to a girl in the stands who put it in her purse........... she threw it back and in and said it was "her bad".......guy to me should have been "Ejected" in my opinion

I don't know how many other teams (or individuals) do this, but keep your eyes open. Some people always looking for an illegal advantage.

Discussion: are there significant difference in 1.20 bats

I know the "neighborhood league" in the Villages FL provides a 1.20 bat that's all the same and just different weights to choose from (or at least they used to) for equal playing field due to different skill levels on a team.

But the competitive leagues there, still use all the regular senior bats

Discussion: UTRIP -senior ?

That being said you CANNOT likely use a senior 1.21 bat in a sanctioned USSSA/GSL/ASA or other league unless that league has over ride rules or gives approval.

I play in a local GSL senior (Over 50) league where everybody has to use a USSSA stamped 1.20 bat but you can have an exception if age 65 or older & can use a senior bat.

Discussion: UTRIP -senior ?

I am "pretty sure" like the TV commercial.... you can use USSSA or ASA stamped bats in senior softball if you so choose.

They should all have 1.20 stamps on them--------bats have to be 1.21 or less,

Most senior bats I know of are 1.21

SSUSA Staff, THANK YOU as I figured this was the case, but just wanted some clarity on the subject.

Your explanation is what I had "assumed" but wanted to get the official answer.

Keep up the good work!!

Our Team Qualified by winning a TOC event in 2020 as a 55

Our Team has since moved on to 60 for 2021

I assume we have to play with our 2020 (55) roster we qualified with, should we choose to go??

Is there a listing somewhere, of all the teams that have qualified so far, to play TOC in 2021

Discussion: Team or Player Rating Question

Player is Age 61 and plays full time on a 60AAA team

Same player gets picked up by another team to play 50AAA

Looking at the ratings guidelines on this site

Player has a "5" rating playing 60AAA but a "7" rating playing 50AAA

does playing on the Age 50 team with a higher rating of (+2) hurt him (or his team) for playing in his own age group????

Yikes, much to my surprise, we went to enter this tournament a few days ago and found out they are at full capacity. only 42 teams now due to losing Shelbyville & Dunn as field sites. We got put on waiting list. I sent entry fee via paypal and keeping fingers crossed.

Thanks Nancy, I have No reason to fib on a softball message board :)

Maybe about the 410 foot home run that really went 301 with a 45 MPH tailwind ????
