I hate getting Old. Of course you are right. There was 9 teams, you forgot Old Dawgs ... LOL Actually that was a big turnout! I would even call it successful....

Discussion: Major plus problem

I know that you aren't going to want to hear this, but here goes. There will always be an elite bracket in each age group. The best teams always will attract the best athletes.

Playing Major+ is about being the best in the country. I have played on 50, 55 & 60 Major+ teams, on and off over the past 10 years. No bitching, Just "Show Up With the Best You Can Put on The Field & Duke It Out"

Sometimes our frail ego's get in the way. People as a whole just hate to lose. Last years Worlds in Vegas (Boulder City) had 4 60 Major+ teams. It was no fun.

It's no fun playing local SSUSA Championships & not being able to play other Major+ teams at the same age levels. That I understand, it's just the nature of the beast. SSUSA tries it's best to accommodate. For that I give them credit.

SSUSA can do nothing about the cost to travel. This has always been the biggest issue getting teams to travel from coast to coast. East Coast teams hate to travel out here & vice a versa. That's why SSUSA uses Las Vegas as its "ACE in the Hole" for the Worlds. Make it a destination.

Tim, you are actually lucky. When we played 50 Major+ in NCSSA, we weren't allowed to even compete in Nor Cal tournaments. If we wanted to play, it was strictly as an exhibition team. But we were a bunch of friends that wanted to play together & not get broken up & compete against each other.

I got reclassified down to Major (I need a new knee), this year. I am having more fun playing & competing at tournaments where there has been 13 & 19 teams in the last 2 SSUSA tournaments, than I have ever had playing Major+.

I guess it's up to you & each one of your team mates to figure out where your priorities lie. I guess if you get fed up enough, you can each be 1 of 3 players on a Major team.

I really am not sure that there is a way to fix Major+.......

Discussion: Qusetion

Hey Jef.... What's a Qusetion? LOL In regards to my playing ability, you know me! You really think I am in any condition to play Major+?? I can't hardly run to 1st base, let alone try for extra bases... I guess I should have checked with you after getting a note from my orthopedist. I did what is required to be re-rated down to Major, from Major+. Had you or whatever manager you played for actually asked SSUSA or read their rules, you would then know that you can have 3 higher rated players on a lower rated team. As long as it is only one division higher. I love the game & want to play with a bunch of my friends on a local team. They happen to be AAA & I, as stated in the SSUSA rules, am 1 of 3 higher rated players on a AAA team. We have a good team that plays well together, both on & off of the field. Hopefully we will win again. But by no means did we blow any teams out of the water. I'm sure that Results is chomping at the bit to beat us. They are a great team & they may very well do that. In Mesquite we just happened to be the best team, on that weekend. Who knows what will happen this weekend in Las Vegas..... We will try our best to win again. If the softball Gods see fit to let us win, then so be it. But I guarantee that 18 other teams are looking to kick our asses this weekend. And if they do, I won't be crying about it.

As many years that I have played in Las Vegas, I have never played at BLD. It has to be, without a doubt the finest facility in Vegas by far. Who cares about paying a few dollars to play on a quality field. SSUSA, put tommy45 at Shadow Rock & Hollywood & put the 55AAA at BLD. You can bring in all the water you can carry. Are you there to eat or play ball? Give me the best & you can take the rest.......

60 AAA
1. War Eagles
2. Results Realty
3. Scrap Iron Legends (I think, confused by 3 entries)

It's truly the most fun that I've had in years. Every team in the tournament was a class act. Results Realty was very gracious in defeat & I'm sure that they are chomping at the bit to pay us back in Las Vegas. All of the guys from Scrap Iron are a compliment to our sport. It's my first opportunity to play against any one of their 17 teams & we were fortunate to play 2 of their teams. See you all in Las Vegas.

Discussion: Balls 52/300

FYI, ASA rules are written for championship play only. Unfortunately City leagues can & do use whatever ball that they feel like. This leaves league players in a quandary as to what bat will actually work, last & be covered under warranty.

Discussion: West Coast Aftershock -

Bass did play with them before. I saw him play with them in another SSUSA tournament, earlier this year. Not sure what Major+ team he ever played for? I played against him in Portland, when he was playing 55 Major. Didn't Aftershock just get dropped to Major? Wouldn't he get moved with them? Or maybe is that where the problem lies?

Tony, The 27 I got actually weighs 26.3oz, it actually swings heavier, I would say like a mid load. I hit the longest ball that I've hit in the last 7 or 8 years tonight. A no doubter, I knew as soon as it left the bat. The more I hit this bat, the more I love it.

SSChic , Rick doesn't pitch. & I'm not sure what number he is. I actually talked to him today. He wants one for his own & has a bunch of guys that wants them too. I'm betting that you will really like the Lightning.

Discussion: New Dudley Lightning

2 weeks ago I was privileged to receive the new Dudley Lightning Senior bat. WOW It has about a 100 swings on it. I got the balanced model in 27oz. The first thing I noticed is that the barrel feels tacky. After swinging it, I simply love it. I'm a line drive hitter & the ball explodes of the barrel. The 2nd swing I took was a line drive home run, hit in the Modesto Senior League.

Last weekend I played in the Cal Cup in Hemet. I had a great weekend hitting the Lightning. I'll admit that I didn't hit any home runs, but I did dot the fence a few times. I'm not a home run hitter, I never profess to be. I'm 60 with bad knees & love this bat.

I brought it home & checked it on my ASA bat compression tester. It isn't even broke in yet... Squeezed at 1300, the hottest Senior bats squeeze at about 1050, anything softer than that & it's ready to break.

When this bat breaks in, it is going to be a Monster......

From what I understand, the engineer behind developing this bat , is the same engineer that helped develop the Reebok Melee. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Buy the new Lightning, you won't be sorry.
