Katzy63, really? "decades of learning a craft has to be changed overnight"? If you have figured out how to stay in the box for decades with the old rule, how does this rule change anything for you? Are you saying that you have perfected having your back foot in front of the plate and not striding to stay in the box?

I echo what T-mon said since this is the same thing I told him. :)

Do your PT religiously, but ensure you are still icing and elevating your leg. I have had three knee replacements, and the biggest mistake I made with the first one was not elevating and icing it enough, which made it difficult to reduce the swelling and get more range of motion.

Two and 1/2 months is pretty aggressive. I came back quicker with each one because I knew where to push my recovery and when to rest. I was hitting in 4 months, three months, and six weeks, respectively, for each surgery and was playing about one month later as a DH with a runner when I got on base. It took me about a year to get back to running at a world-record pace! :)

Good luck!

Scott Harder,it's the back foot that has to stay even with the front of the plate, not the front foot.

Johan028, I see this message board as a good place to see if a rule change proposal has support and for others to voice their pros and cons.

If I were proposing a rule change, I would post it here and wait for the discussion. If there was adequate support for it or I felt very strongly about it, I would send it in officially to get considered at the annual rules meeting. My official proposal might include the number of people supporting and against this rule change. It may be unofficial, but it might also hold some weight if you included in the rule change proposal that 89/94 posters (made up numbers) support this rule change.

Discussion: Knee replacement

I had a partial in 2010. It lasted seven years (the outer part that wasn't replaced had to be repaired), so they had to take out the partial and do a total. The part they didn't replace in 2010 did not fail; only the other part of my knee deteriorated. I was OK doing the second surgery because that means that my current replacement parts have seven fewer years of wear and tear. My doctor told me that a partial knee replacement is your first one, and a total is your last.

Those are some impressive stats. I don't know the Hara's batter but Chito is a professional hitter.

And here I thought I was doing pretty good going 61 for 70 combined for the 65's, 60's, and 50's.

You know I can't wait a few days between when the list is published and the draft game schedules are listed! :)

I am sure that reason 3 is the real reason...you don't want me to get bored or lose my excel skills! You are such a thoughtful guy!

Thanks, Dave. See you in Vegas (hopefully not at BLD).

Chief144, but why go through this step when SSUSA already has that information and could publish it with the team listing?

Discussion: Partial knee replacement

I had a partial knee replacement on my right knee 11 years ago. It lasted seven years, and I had to have a total replacement four years ago. Two years ago, I had a total knee replacement on my left knee.

With each knee replacement, I knew more about what to do to recover. The biggest thing I learned was how to manage and reduce the swelling and regain my range of motion. With each one, the time it took to get back to playing was shorter: five, four, and two months. I still limped a little and didn't do much other than hit for a couple of months after I started playing again in each case. It took almost a year until I felt I could run without any limping and back to full speed.

When I got my right knee redone, my surgeon told me that he tells his patients that a partial knee replacement is their first and a total knee replacement is their last. I disagree with an earlier poster who said that the recovery time for a partial is 1/2 the time as a full. My recovery was just as long (and actually longer) for the partial as it was for my two total replacements.

When the tournament entry deadline is met, the list of teams in the tournament by age division is listed. Could you go one step further and list their rating so it is easier to see who is entered in your age group and rating level?

For instance, for the Southwest Championship, there are 38 teams listed in the 65 age group. I had to copy and paste the teams that were entered into excel then, copy the ratings for 65 teams, then do a Vlookup to find out there were six 65 Major Plus teams.

Thanks for your consideration.

Are you sure you will be capable of playing on a 75 team in 22023 when you are over 20,000 years old? :)

Discussion: 4 Game or 5 Game Guarantee??

So without the 5gg, will SSUSA be able to move into the modern times and use software that updates the scores in near real-time? The reasoning before has been that no software handles teams that go 0-2 in brackets.

You can go to the Ratings page and sort by date to see who recently was moved up or down. I think you will be severely disappointed if you think a "bunch" of the '60s and '65s got moved up to Major Plus.

It's hard to tell since inactive teams are listed too. Look at World's last year, which should give you a good idea. Last year there were six 65's and five 65's.

Discussion: 11 Players For 65 Brackets

garyc, I still play 55, 60, and 65 Major Plus, so I think I qualify as someone who can still play at a high level AND likes the 11th man in 65's.

I've had a few hits taken away from me on grounders in the 5-6 hole that get fielded because the SS is shifted over there with the extra infielder. My plan in the offseason to combat this is to try once again never to hit ground balls and to work on my speed to beat out some of those balls that get fielded deep in the 5-6 hole.

Hey Dave, I just wanted to thank you for your scheduling work. I was able to play 11 out of 12 games with my 60 and 55 teams. There was only one game that conflicted and that was on the last day of the tournament. I appreciate your effort in helping those of us stupid enough to want to play on 2 (or 3) teams!
