He paid $2,500 each but he didn't realize last year when he bought them, it was going to be on the same day as his wedding. If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place...It's at St. Michaels Church, at 3pm. The bride's name is Sheila she's 5'4", about 115 lbs, good cook too. She'll be the one in the white dress. |

Free gas for one year. 3. Free ammo for one year. 4. Free groceries for one year. 5. No GEICO commercials for one year. Scientific literacy is the single most important survival skill we possess. Three out of the four finest marksmen I know personally are women. There’s something there. Rock is dead. I can’t tell you when it died, but I’ve been poking it with a stick for a while now and it hasn't moved. I need to know what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. I used to carry on about hating disco while secretly loving it. I don’t want to be mean and hurt anyone’s feelings, but Metallica is terrible. A garage band with exceptional PR. And I wouldn’t clean my toilet with their OEM whiskey. Joan Jett sucks too…damn it’s good to get all this out. Any and all performers named “ Lil” anything, sucks. Remember when all the teenagers were gonna die from vaping? Whatever happened to that? I was a slow convert, but I’m close to having all ceramic blade knives. I haven’t seen a truly stray dog in two years at least. Look for and read ‘ The Three Body Problem’ by Cixin Liu. The first of an outstanding trilogy. I keep mowing my neighbors front lawn because he says his dad has his lawnmower. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have a lawnmower. Or a dad. Whatever. He thinks he’s getting over but he’s twice my weight and half my age. I keep wondering why guys show up at the range in camouflage. But I keep it to myself. Prediction. But an American can be forgiven for that stance. Unpopular take…I didn’t find ‘Breaking Bad’ compelling or Walter White the least bit intimidating. Though there was a 16 year old girl in ‘Game of Thrones’ that terrified me. I’ve never eaten alligator. Except for 12ga and .22 I haven’t bought retail ammunition in 10 years now. Roll your own. Coming up with a nutritional satisfying meal every single night is becoming a chore. On weekends there’s always a line at the local pot store. Literally the only place I ever see a line. Guy disappeared while swimming on the Pacific coast after other folks saw a large shark. Article said he was an expert water sportsman with years of experience. Really? Expert? Swimming dressed in a seal suit at Point Reyes in September? Sure …expert. You can spend a fortune on very fine Swiss or German rifle scopes. And if you have the money, great. It’s fine glass. But I buy Nikon. Unfortunately they stopped making rifle scopes a few years ago but there’s a strong secondary market. I buy them up and so should you. ProStaff or Monarch. Make a tight littlex48 spotting scope I’m getting real fond of too. Doesn’t come with a stand or a hard case though. I would never bash a guys skull in with a Stihl Heavy Duty spade shovel. But if was to do such a thing, I know who I’d do it to. It’s my Brooklyn birth I suspect. Forgive me Lord. Wake me up when kale doesn’t taste like feet. The very first time I used a microwave, my palms got sweaty. A very well made, finely built rifle is as close to art as any Monet, Manet, or Rembrandt. I don’t get thong underwear. Neither the allure, nor the comfort. Or lack there of. I’ve even tried wearing them backwards. I want to go check if Abe Vigoda is actually dead. But I’m scared he might not be. That would freak me out. I wonder who holds the record for having the most diseases. Or held the record I suppose. If there’s one bad cop for every twenty good ones, that’s still a bad ratio. The conveyer belts at my local Raley’s were so dirty and gross I finally had to say something . I said it in German, so it might not have had any effect. Speaking of Raleys I found a good cheap French red. Beaujolais-Villages Louis Jadot 2021. Pretty sure it was less than $20. Bet Safeway has it. Dave, when does the 2024 schedule come out? |

Slow runner at 2nd base scores at the same time the fast batter / runner misses 2nd base while on his way to 3rd base. On appeal, the ump calls batter / runner out for missing 2nd base. Does the run score? |

While sheltered in place, I looked through my house to find things I'd started and hadn't finished. Can you give us the definition of this? Can we assume this refers to putting a ball into play that has been stored in an ice chest? If this is correct, at what temperature is a ball considered illegal, and how is this temperature determined? |

| June 5, 2021 The real deal | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Umpires Making the Right (or Wrong) Call Runners on 1st and 2nd, one out. Batter singles to CF and the outfielder throws to 2nd base trying to force out the runner, who beats the throw by a half step. Umpire misses the call - calls the runner out at 2nd. Runner vehemently objects, but leaves the field after receiving a warning from umpire. Umpire meets with representatives from both teams to discuss the play, and both reps say he missed the call. Umpire then calls runner out a 2nd time, because he didn't think it would be fair to change his original call. Thoughts? |
| Sept. 19, 2020 The real deal | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Rule Change Proposal for 2021 SSUSA Staff: How does a player make an official rule change proposal for 2021? And will the General Meeting this year be " live, in person", or via zoom? I'd like to propose that a pitcher's screen be optional - not mandatory, for the older age groups (65's and above?). I play in 4 other leagues where the pitcher's screen is available, and there have been no injuries, and no middle wars. Over the last few years, more and more teams are making use of the screen, with no problems. As we (I) get older, our (my) reaction time ain't what it used to be, and dressing up in full catcher's gear kinda sucks. Any info on how / when / where to make this proposal would be helpful. |

We have a few guys that can't make this tournament because of work (short notice), and a few other guys in the "high risk" category who don't want to risk getting the virus. We're trying to figure out if we have enough guys to commit to this tournament. |

The whole point of social distancing or shelter in place is that we don't infect other people when we are either symptomatic or asymptomatic but contagious. So if I decide to play, am I putting at risk anyone else I come into contact with, especially my wife and elderly parents? Do they get a vote, or is that just something I have to work out in my own relationships? What about others with whom I may come into contact? No easy answers here. |

Yesterday the City of Pleasanton cancelled all league play for the rest of 2020, and will start up again in 2021. Don't know if this will affect any NCSSA tournaments that are played there. Speaking of NCSSA, anybody know if the Sacramento Tournament (on May 16 - 17) has been cancelled? The NCSSA Board of Directors previously stated that any / all tournaments would be considered cancelled if there wasn't a 2 week notice sent out before the tournament dates. So far - no notice... |
