Discussion: Best bat-ball combinations

Question for any bat gurus in the know:

Our senior league has been using a 52/300 ball for safety reasons. Rumor has it that a "senior" bat is not the right bat to use with this ball (trampoline effect from senior bat hitting a mush ball is self-defeating). Perhaps an ASA bat would be better?

Discussion: Torn Rotator Cuff

Thanks guys - any idea on how long the recovery took? At this point I’m thinking about only the rotator cuff repair without shoulder replacement.

Discussion: Torn Rotator Cuff

My sports doc / surgeon says my MRI shows that all 4 tendons in my left (non-throwing) shoulder are completely torn, with bone spurs / arthritis in my shoulder joint. He is recommending a shoulder replacement at the same time as rotator cuff surgery, and I’m not sure about the shoulder replacement, preferring just the rotator cuff repair.

Has anyone had both done? Any input would be appreciated.

Discussion: WORLDS AND NEW 4 DAY FORMAT

I'll throw out another dumb idea: Could this World Tournament be spread out to different cities during the same week? I know most guys would prefer to play in Vegas, but maybe by adding St George or
Reno or Phoenix to the mix for different age groups, this tournament could get back down to 3 days.

Discussion: 1 and 1 count

Does the 1 and 1 count speed up games? Probably a little. But it also might result in a few more walks, which could also slow the game down.

The question about speeding up the game is interesting, because we get to play for an hour time limit either way.

Maybe another way to speed the "pace of play" would be for the hitting team to stay up to bat for 2 innings at a time (clearing the bases after 3 outs) for the first 4 innings, then revert back to one inning at a time for the 5th, 6th, and 7th.

All hell will break loose in 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1...

Discussion: Shin protection

Anybody have a recommendation for a light weight, hard shell shin guard for a little extra protection, especially for the 2 hot corner positions? Ideally, something that can be easily removed without taking off your shoes (don't really care for soccer shin guards). Thanks

Staff,
Looking to make hotel reservations for Rockin' Reno, based on field assignments. Any idea what age group will be playing in Carson City this year?

Discussion: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RULING • WMC 50-Major Matter

Real disappointed that the deleted thread turned into a pissing contest between Tim and Cornerstone, and even more disappointed that SSUSA staff has now banned Tim from posting on this board. I think he had some legitimate concerns that have not been answered..

So staff, please answer this one question once and for all: did Cornerstone add any "illegal" players when they stacked their roster for this tournament?

And no, I am not associated with either of these teams - just a player who believes that any add ons for this tournament shouldn't be allowed.

Discussion: West Coast Aftershock -

If cooling down softballs is a violation of Rulebook 3.4(4): Altered Equipment, does that mean it is a violation to warm up bats as well? We have all seen these sun - reflective "hot boxes" that a lot of players carry around.

Discussion: Pitcher Protection

Unfortunately, a face mask, shin guards, chest protector, and cup have all become necessary equipment for pitchers who want protection from all the hot bats.

Any pitchers out there have any recommendations on how to protect the feet? Not sure if there is a steel toe softball shoe out there (Tanel: take notice - might be a hot seller!). The feet seem to be the only part of the body that needs a little more protection.

I get what bkb555 is saying - never really thought of 40 year olds as being "seniors". But I guess their money is as green as ours.

It won't be long and we'll probably see a 30's division...

Discussion: Las Vegas 2013

To SSUSA:

Thanks for another great weekend! We played on some crappy fields (Warm Springs) and some great fields (Arroyo Grande), but really appreciate the opportunity to be part of a tournament where we can meet and play teams from other parts of the country! Very cool.

So now we move on to 2014 - bittersweet in parting with some teammates, but awesome in looking forward to playing with new guys! All part of the game of life.

Yes, my wife really enjoys following the team too. We've been to Vegas and Phoenix a few times now. And we will go where ever this tournament is held (as long as we are healthy enough to attend).

Any thoughts about a new venue? (Great way to meet new friends and see the country). Socal? Florida? Denver? Norcal?

Easy boys - not bustin' anybody's balls here, just an attempt at some light hearted humor.

We all know what a great job SSUSA does in putting this whole thing together - the premier softball event of the year! Really looking forward to it.

Good luck and stay safe.
