If we have just 7 teams in Major Plus, we should just play round robin and best record wins the RING! Good Luck to all!

Got my 27-ouncer and was hot right out of the wrapper. Might break it out in Phoenix. Hopefully, it'll last at one full season for this 5'10, 190 pounder.

Discussion: Miken's defective bats

Just broke my Black MIKEN Ultra II this past weekend in Turlock. Almost made it through the 2011 season. Breaking out the COMBATs (Senior Gear & Centenarian) for LVSSA Masters in two weeks. Also, just ordered the 2012 WORTH 454 senior bat. Have the DEMARINI "The One" senior bat but have yet to use it in game play. Durability is an issue according to Ricky ("Barons"). He got 4 to try out not too long ago and the longest one lasted about 180 swings.

Discussion: What would you do

Just my two cents. If you don't want to get smacked/spun (intentional/unintentional), find another position. Three years in Senior ball and 25+ years elsewhere, I've been hit square once and it was a good friend of mine who apologized all the way down the 1st base line. For me, I don't look for an apology and it doesn't matter to me whatsoever. My teammates might have a different take on it but oh well. I got smacked (back of the glove) twice in one game last year in Carson City & I thought my hand was broken. Just badly bruised I suppose cause I didn't make a trip to the doctor. One guy apologized and the other player was silent. Cool either way. I was just pissed cause I couldn't get my glove turned around fast enough and was pissed the second time cause it HURTED. I just like playing the game competetively hard and when the game ends, sportsmanship is displayed by handshake/fist smack/high five/butt slap/man hugs by the two teams. Its all good! It is what it is (always wanted to say that)!

Discussion: How do the other major teams feel about major and major plus in western national

I'm 5'10" & 190 lbs. and have been playing softball since 1978 with a couple years off for a dislocated shoulder injury which relegated me to find another position other than the outfield. I started pitching and playing first and second base and played well enough to be competitive through the years. Highest civilian classification I've ever played at was ASA Class "C" Nationals. Played on base teams throughout my 20 years in the Air Force. Now going on my third year with the EAST BAY OLDIES with a TOC win in Florida last year and a 2nd place finish in the 2009 SSUSA World Championships. We got bumped to Major Plus after winning Rockin Reno in '09 and have never looked back. What makes a MAJOR PLUS team anyways? I know some old guys out there amongst the various teams have played and excelled at a higher level than me for sure. I don't consider myself a MAJOR PLUS player if thats going to be the top level. I think we should have another division called MAJOR WANNABE or go to A, AA, AAA, Major just like MLB. We've been beaten by MAJOR teams. If we win all the RING tournaments and the World Championships in one year, we'll definitely need to be re-classified as AWESOME or MAJOR PLUS PLUS.

WHO CARES is a 50s team that has a few players from Solano County. OH MY (Fresno) might be looking for players. You need to visit the tournaments on the NCSSA & SSUSA circuits. Get some face time with the managers/coaches. Look for SENIOR leagues in your locality. Lots of SENIOR tournament players play during the week to get their workouts in. Hope this helps.

Discussion: Which Miken is the most durable? Red Gray or Black

Had all three (Balanced (Black), Slightly endloaded (Gray), & Max endloaded (Red)) at one time. At 5'10" 190 lbs., got plenty of use out of the BLACK one, less than 100 swings on the GRAY before it broke, and still have the RED one cause I hardly use it. Teammate of mine almost snapped his in half and he definitely had less than 100 swings. Have a new BLACK one, with the new Blue COMBAT and the new WORTH Toxic XXX and just ordered the COMBAT Centenarian.

Discussion: A baserunner giving himself up and leaving field after being declared safe

Plain and simple folks. Rule 8.3 (9) WHEN A RUNNER CAN BE PUTOUT
A. A runner can be putout:
1. If, while the ball is in play, a runner is not touching the
base. Rulebooks are not written for mental mistakes. Tagging the base, not good enough. Make the attempt to tag him as he tries to return to the bag, he'll be out because now he is out of the baseline. Lets hope the umpire that is involved in a play like this gets it right.

Discussion: UltraII vs. Worth Toxic XXX vs Combat MM

My Toxic XXX lasted about a year before it cracked. Black Ultra II bought @ Winter Worlds in Nov. 09 & cracked in May '10. Gray Ultra II SE cracked with less than a 100 swings. Have the Ultra II Maxload with less than 50 swings...staying in the bag for now. My occasional Combat bats (Yellow & Red) are still good. Swinging my 2nd Black Ultra II now. Hoping to buy a Toxic XXX @ the World Championships in Phoenix. I'm 5'10" 190 & swing 27 ounces. EBO in the house!

My 27 oz. is still going strong and was hot right out of the wrapper. Almost a year old. Had the original gold Launch 510 but broke that one at the handle. Lasted about 7 months. Have broken a black Ultra II and the silver special edition Ultra II - just cracked on me in Turlock. Had less than 100 swings on the silver one.

Google "EVOSHIELD". I've used it while pitching and haven't yet had the displeasure of being SPUN. Costly at about $90 but some protection is better than none. Conforms to your pectoral dimensions even if they droop a little. Damn, I sound like an advertisement or you can keep a defibrillator in your equipment bag.

Discussion: Anyone use Glucosamine, Chondroitin and/or MSM?

I've been taking all 3 for about 10 years now. Had surgery twice on my right ankle before taking the supplement. Use to wake up in the morning with ankle stiffness and after being on the supplement for a few months, the stiffness went away. Only take it once a day at night but sometimes double the dose when playing during a tournament weekend. Might check out CELADRIN (seen it in COSTCO) in the near future.
