Discussion: Rotator Cuff Surgery or not?

Cudaa65, Mannjo made my point. A frozen shoulder is not something you want. If that happens, shoulder replacement is on the horizon.
I had 2 rotator cuff surgeries same shoulder -right, my throwing shoulder. 1st when I was 60, 2nd when I was 71. Currently 78, and Doc said cannot be a 3rd.
I have a friend that did not have the surgery, his shoulder froze, and the only solution was replacement. Speak to your Orthopedic guy with that in mind.
I still play, but I'm very careful of my throwing, and the position I play.

Discussion: Rotator Cuff Surgery

Those are all good recommendations. I had rotator cuff surgery twice. Same shoulder--right. I throw right. Surgeries were 10 years apart. 1st when I was 60 and the 2nd when I was 70. Coming back in 4 months is too soon. 6 months is questionable. If I had it to do over I'd wait 10 to 12 months.
Your PT is important, but you still have to listen to your body.

I forgot-- The Babe Ruth Story with William Bendix, and The Jackie Robinson Story-both the original with Jackie Robinson playing himself and the newest one 42.

Discussion: rotator cuff rehab

The number 1 thing to do is trust your physical therapist, and do your re-hab exercises faithfully.
Do Not rush back to playing the game, no matter how much you want to.
I have had 2 rotator cuff surgeries. Both on my throwing shoulder. 11 years apart. It's hard to repair something that has already been repaired.
Do Not rush back, and do your exercises.

Gary 19, that's how it was in the late 80's and early 90's. If you were a 50 yr old team you played all the 50 yr old teams that showed up for the tourn., and you didn't play in a national tourn unless you Qualified for it.
In 1994, the changes started. That was when Major and AAA started. A few years after that AA came into existence, and in 2000 or 2001 major+ started.
No need to tell you why because you know.
That's when teams started complaining about who they were playing, and therefore not going to tournaments unless they could play against teams that were equal or less.
That brings us to where we are now.

Beasley, I'm sure you are right. I did'nt play softball before I was 50. I played baseball into my late 30's.
I started playing senior slowpitch when I was 50.
All I know is Senior rules, and I have enjoyed the game for the past 23 years.

Discussion: Doctor says I have a hernia

Hayden
I just had an Inguinal(groin) Hernia repaired on 5/4/12.
I had an option of general anesthesia or a local in the area. I opted for the general at the recommendation of the anesthesiologist. I have a friend that had a local for his repair and said NEVER again.
A hernia is a hole in the abdominal wall, and when the hole gets larger the intestine protruds more frequently, and the hernia grows.
That was my case, which causes more swelling after surgery. My testicles are swollen, which makes moving uncomfortable. First 3 days after surgery, ice is very important--30 min on 30 min off all day. The swelling is going down now.
The typical repair is using a mesh screen to cover the hole, and that's what I have.
My Doc said recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks, and I will be shooting for 4.
If you want more info, send me an email with your phone # and I'll call you.

There's nothing like playing in the spring, summer, and fall, but I also play in the winter.
Double headers on thursday and b.p. on tuesday and friday. Weather premitting naturally.
If that disappears, then golf course here I come!!

Boombah Beast is an excellent bag. I've had 2 in the last 7 years. Great for Air trips, all your playing clothes will fit along with bats and gloves.

Thanks for updating the results at the end of the day at the Spring Worlds in Mesquite.
That's great, since I'm injured and could not make the trip, at least I know what's going on.
