Policy Change on Player Exemptions
Aug. 1, 2017 – Terry Hennessy CEO

Senior Softball USA has announced two changes in player eligibility rules, which go into effect immediately:

Players receiving medical exemptions to play at a lower skill level will be eligible to participate at the new level three months after the exemption has been granted.
Players will be granted a “one-time” exemption to play on a short-handed team ONLY if they are the 10th player on men’s teams aged 40-65, or the 11th player on men’s teams aged 70-85. Players also must meet regional and age restrictions.
The new rules have been implemented to address problems with the original exemption rules and to institute a policy that is available to all teams in a short-handed situation.

What's the thinking behind the medical exemption?

I'm assuming Rawlings is not playing these tournaments to avoid getting bumped up.

I saw that Top Gun Elite was rated down to 60 Major on June 30th.

How many 60 Major teams plan on attending? The Southwest Bandits are trying to make a decision.

I agree. I would go farther and say it should be used for all divisions. The Rock makes anyone a home run hitter. I guess that's what senior players want.

All they need to do is take a picture of the completed brackets and post them here. For some unknown baffling reason they choose not to.

Discussion: WHAT IS WRONG WITH SENIOR BALL!!!!

8 a.m. start and a 2 p.m. championship sounds very reasonable. Most players complain that there are not enough teams to justify traveling to the tournament.

Uh, I would suggest you opt for Boulder Station, Eastside Cannery or Sam's Town over Az. Charlie's. Check Trip Adviser reviews. If you are with teammates looking for a cheap place, maybe it might work for you. I guess the food is ok.

This wouldn't be an issue if it didn't cost so much to play. $595 for Southwest Championships! $740 for Worlds? Holy Cow!

Southwest Championships. Women's 50 Major playing 40 AAA. No equalizer, had to play them straight up. This is a 10 year difference! Reason given was that 40 is the next lower age group. This is something I think SSUSA needs to address at the next rules meeting.

I disagree. There are no seams on the Rock. It knuckles incredibly without any wind. It also makes everyone in the lineup a home run hitter. It's ridiculous.
