Discussion: Ultra II Beyond 2005

guys, almost 3000 players have viewed this thread, BUT ONLY 45 reponses have been posted, does this mean they dont care, one way or the other? or they are not registered, (IT'S FREE!) just visiting? i really thought we would get more of a response to this. we ar not showing the association leaders that we are serious about keeping this bat legal, even it' its only in SSUSA. very simple: YES OR NO.

i agree with you guys, we need to vote here on this post, emails are hidden, we need to show everybody, senior players and associations that we want to keep the ultra ii beyound 2005. if the associations are concerned about injuries, i think the ULTRA II and a good .44 core 375 minimum compression ball would be acceptable to the senior players. LETS VOTE HERE ON THIS POST AND SHOW EVERYBODY HOW WE REALLY FEEL , THIS MIGHT BE OUR LAST SHOT! """"'VOTE HERE!""""VOTE YES TO KEEP IT BEYOUND 2005!

Discussion: BAT AND BALL RESTRICTIONS

jah4, must have felt great to swing the ultra ii again. i dont understand how come the associations dont just allow the ULTRA II and use a 44 core ball. i think the majority of the senior players want to use it. this website ought to set up a survey and record the players votes pro and con. it would be interesting to see the results. if the associations are concerned about insurance, i believe all or most of of us are covered by personal insurance . most of the injuries are going to occur in running the bases, running into each other, stepping on the bases wrong, stepping into potholes in the outfield, etc. there have been some reports of players being hurt by a batter using an ULTRA II, but is it true? seems to me that terry hennesy reported a few months ago that he was not aware of any injuries caused by a better using the ULTRA IIi. i think the players ought to decide what bats to use, after all, without the players, the associations are out of business. my opinion, thanks. frank

Discussion: Rolling for distance

5 questions come to mind, 1) is this considered altering athe bat? 2) if still in warranty, and it breaks, could the bat co tell that something has been done and refuse to replace it? 3) does it shorten the life of the bat? 4? how expensive is this process? 5) can the umpires tell the difference during a game?

what are the chances this bat (B1 DA BOMB),WILL STAY LEGAL IN ANY ASSOC PAST JUNE of 2005? if it is anything close to the MIKEN U-2 OR THE ORIGINAL ULTRA, i am pretty sure it wont get aproved. i think i will hang on to my $$$$ a little longer and see what the assoc are going to do.

Discussion: Teammate had a close call

BRUCE IN GA, i dont know JACKSON WILLIAMS, but am glad he dodged the close call he had , this shows that we ,the senior players, NEED to take a stress test at least once a year. this 15 minute treadmill test will expose any blood flow problems. I, also had 2 stents put in on 3/15/03. my problem was exposed during a stress test, and was in the hospital within 2 days, they did the DIE TEST,the die exposed where the blockages were and the stents were installed. HERE IS THE PROBLEM, if your problem is caught early enough you might escape any damage to the heart muscles, if you wait until something happens, you might not be so lucky. GUYS, dont screw around with this stuff, get yourself checkout at least once a year, we want you around playing this great game. WATCH YOUR DIET. take care of yourselves! FRANK A. TEXAS LEGENDS 60'S

we , the senior softball players, have got to say " NO MAS" ! , these bat bannings and low compression balls we are now been forced to use by the associations are getting out of hand. they must realize (or dont care), that we cant afford to keep buying bats every year. most of us are retired or getting close to retirement, and need to really watch our expenses.,but we play because we love the game. ARE YOU WILLING TO "STRIKE" IN 2005?? let's show these people ,that we dont NEED THEM, they need "US". we can keep busy in local regular league games . and i am sure,we have all have a lot of unfinish projects around the house that your wife has been after you to finish. i dont think the associations can survive without the senior players longer than a year. the question is : DO WE HAVE THE STONES TO DO IT!? WHAT SAY YOU?

STONE, we HAVE always enjoyed coming to the WORLDS IN SEPT,OCT IN LAS VEGAS ,do some gambling, and best of all, getting to use the ULTRA II DURING THE TOURNAMENT, if LVSSA IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW the ULTRA II, SSUSA WILL ALLOW IT, i believe some teams are going to switch from LVSSA TO SSUSA. I am glad TERRY H. has the STONES to hold his ground ON THE U-2 ISSUE, AND WE NEED TO BACK HIM UP AND PLAY HIS TOURNAMENTS.

Discussion: MIKEN U-2 ALLOWED SSUSA/LVSSA 2005?

Does anybody know if the SSUSA / LVSSA is going to allow the the MIKEN U2 & SYNERGY 1 in "2005" ?? a FLORIDA website is currently taken a survey of the senior players about the same question, and the response is running about 90% to keep the above bats legal for 2005. maybe ssusa should take a poll of what we want. and go with the consensus, good or bad. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS??

Discussion: Run limits in tournaments

RED, there should be 5 runs given to AA teams when they play AAA teams. OR if AA plays a major team ,they should get 10 runs ,this should make for a better game and give the AA team a fighting chance. BUT, i would be more concerned of injuries as the major teams hit the ball too hard and the AA infield may not have the reflexes to protect themselves. this may need to be discussed when the associations have their annual meetings to discuss policy. my .02c. thanks.RED, I AM SORRY to read that you are giving up playing softball. i know that you will miss playing the game and the frienships developed over the years. best of luck in whatever you do.

Discussion: Prayers needed for Jimmy Smith

BRUCE, my prayers are with your amigo, i dont know JIMMY, but anytime one of our own goes down, it reminds us that we are not indestructable. i am 63 yr old, always keep myself very active, racquetball, running, lifting weights, never had high blood or chlor. levels, took a stress test and found 2 veins 90% blocked on my heart, needed 2 stents to fix the problem. that was about 14 months ago. had to do a complete eating habit change to avoid any more blockages. i consider myself very lucky that i had my self checked when i did. i think at our age we really need to check things that dont feel right. they wouldnt go away by ignoring them. again, i hope your friend recovers ,but it will be a very difficult uphill battle.
