Discussion: Slower bat speed - use bigger bat ???

Hitting question: since my bat speed is slowing down should I use a bigger bat. I swing a 27 now so should I move to 28 or 29oz to make up for my slower bat speed?

Discussion: best weight training to improve hitting

Ok…I have decided to give up on working out to hit better…..going to take some steroids, shave my U2 and only hit 50 core/600 comp balls. For running the bases I have one of those football fan caps that will feed tubes of Red Bull in me for the whole game!!

I just talked to a baseball coach at a high school here in Montana. He also is the weight coach for MSU. I am told that the best training for my age is thing called the Total Gym. I think it is sold on TV. Anyway I googled it and it uses your body weight and pulleys.

Anyone here have one?? good - bad - ?

I take bp three times a week and I lift once or twice a week. My question is what is the best way to lift to get a stronger swing. I just want to increase my distance. I know about the bats so that is not the issue.

thank you.

Webbie,
I understand and agree with what you are saying. The reason wood will not work in college baseball has to do with fans, TV and the market appeal of the game. Coaches say that if the game moved to wood the fans and TV would bolt because the game would be so boring. Remember that college has to battle for ratings with MLB and those high offense games are what the fans want.

cool...I was at the fantasy camp this year with the SF Giants. Bill Laskey was in charge and did a great job.

In terms of NCAA baseball using wood bats. According to a PAC 10 coach it would ruin the college game and will never happen. I know we think it would better because of MLB but he say's the college game does not have the talent for wood.

Well I was asking about why it is so hard to hit a softball with a baseball bat but while since to bought it up. Yes the NCAA has banned composite bats this year the word is that after a study they are going to bring them back.
In terms of college softball. My DD is a coach at a PAC 10 school (softball) and they are not banning anything. In fact there is talk of dropping the ASA standard and going to hotter bats. Of cousre this is just hear-say and nothing more.
Except the comp bats...they will stay in NCAA softball.

On of the guys had a composite baseball bat, his grandson plays college baseball and is here for a visit. We took turns using it at BP and wow....it is really bad. We could not get the bat to go more than 200 feet. We know the bat has pop for baseballs but from what we saw has no pop at all for softballs. Wondering if any of you bat gurus could tell us why??

I sure most of you know but for those that may not; NCAA (high school) use a 12" softball. College is a .47/400 ball (I think)

Discussion: Not PC but the graphics are great

Not here to promote the bat but the graphic on the this new Veteran senior bat are refreshing. With 'GOD BLESS the USA', the flag colors and the USA theme I think it is great.
Just got the bat and only hit at bp. Hits like the U2. Anyway I only wanted to say that I love the whole USA thing.
