In senior softball you are allowed 5 an inning, so it is not the same as the really good young teams where they can score enough in the top of the inning to intimidate the other team. If a team selects visitors they really are planning for a very good open inning, but that is putting a lot on the open inning being a big one. They do have some statistics in the MLB on the advantage of home team, (through 2008) one place is http://www.baseball-reference.com/blog/archives/2850 This is a stat on playoffs and the edge to the home team is .548 Softball is a much higher scoring and easier to score game so I would thing it would be a higher winning percentage. |

Could (62 teams) 200 games be played in 2 days using 12 fields? On the first day of the tournament, do you plan 10 games on that day per field? I say 12 instead of 10 knowing that on the final day, the tournament needs to be finished earlier. What park has the most fields to play on? How many total games were played in Vegas this year? |

If the 50's and 55's were together, I could not play in both. I would be curious how many people do play on 2 teams at the worlds. What about changing the tournaments to 2 day tournaments. Example have the 50's play Friday & Saturday and the 55's play Sunday & Monday. (or vice versa) Do similar for all age groups close in age. I would bet that many would come out early to watch the finals of the tournaments that finished on Saturday. I also would think that many more people would try to play in both where able. Maybe it would affect the Monday games for the more senior age brackets and wouldn't work though. Dave |

In young man's ball more and more pitchers and infielders are wearing them. I didn't notice any more than usual hits up the middle because of them. Anyone else like or dislike the face masks being mandatory? (Hopefully the same people that talk about the "stooopid" bats and the "greedy" associations will not hijack another thread.) |

Every position in the infield should already know where they are going on any ball hit to the infield, in most cases go for a double play. Where would depend on what base the slowest runners are and the bases covered by the infielders with the strong arms. On ball hit to pitcher in most cases go for 2, second then first. |

I do admit though that I do not know if a chilled ball is easily detected and could be wrong that they should be easily detected. |

Batter will be called out and ejected from the tournament. 2. Base runners will be instructed to return to the base(s) occupied at the time the suspected altered bat was used, providing there are fewer than three outs. 3. The bat (if surrendered by the owner) will be held and forwarded for testing through the National SSUSA Office at the conclusion of the tournament I wouldn't think that the attempt to cheat with a ball would be worse than that. |

It would appear that they never actually hit one of those balls as the balls went through the umpire before being introduced into the game. I do agree that there has to be penalties for attempting to cheat. I bet that SSUSA will amend that rule to include so it is clear. |

But in the penalty part, it only talks about altering bats and doesn't talk about the penalty for altering balls. I have no idea who plays on either team, so not making any excuses for anyone, but it would appear that the team didn't know it was against the rules because they gave it to the umpire to check out. It would also appear that (assuming they threw all balls to the umpire to check) they never did hit any of the balls. |
