Discussion: Rest In Peace Elby Bushong

Elby was one of the real pioneers in our game and I will miss him. I was lucky to play on a couple of teams he played on and he was a leader that could hit with anyone. Great post from 16wood.

I just got home from the ISA Nationals in Indiana. Jerry Jackson put on a great tournament with good umpires, a good ball (ISA XRock) and terrific prizes. It was a treat to be involved with this tournament. Teams need to put this one on their calendars for next year.

Hurdler,
This new ball is the ball of the future. It will last forever and plays better than the standard balls. The feel of the ball in your hand is better, the way it bounces is better and it has a better feel off of the bat. The performance is slightly better. I have hit with all of the models off of a tee and measured the results. It will fly a little bit farther. The negative is that the defense will like it better too.

Don Presley lives in Forney Texas and is looking for a team. He is 55 yrs old, 6'5 and 235 lbs and a man of great character.. He has definite HR power and plays the outfield. This is a blue chip player who has not played senior ball before and could be a great addition to any senior team. He can be reached at 214 502 8006 or you can call me at 903 236 3459 and I can get you in touch with him.

We were hitting on the fields at Warm Springs. The largest field is 300 feet and he was hitting them on the infield of the smaller diamond to the southwest. Go to google earth and measure how far that is.
And the statement, Who cares? Who cares how much weight a weightlifter can lift. Who cares how fast a man can run? To see Jose get loose and then let it fly will be amazed. People were amazed when he hit a softball out of Anaheim stadium, it was an amazing feat. Give Jose his due.

In the 70 AAA tournament at Sunset park that very situation occurred, only difference was it was a runner from first who left early and was out going back to first. Both umpires ruled the run did not count and the California team protested the ruling. The tournament director was brought in and he ruled that the umpires were correct. The California team was eliminated in that game by one run. I saw the whole play and couldn't believe what I saw. Later it was reported that the umpires changed their call and ruled that the runner from third didn't cross the scoring line, that was a lie and if I were the California team I'd be making a real big fuss.

Discussion: WHO ARE CURRENTLY THE MOST POWERFUL HITTERS IN SENIOR SOFTBALL

I, for one, am in awe of Jose Canseco. I had the privilege of hitting with him and he hit a few of my GURU softballs 600 feet using a USSSA bat. He didn't want to use his senior bat because he knew it would break.
Here's a guy who has done it all in Major League Baseball and he loves to put his softball pants on and go out and hit softballs, he just loves the game. What other accomplished Major Leaguers do that? They were all in it for the money and when their playing days were over they got lazy and fat like so many of us. Jose and Ozzie go out regularly to practice their softball skills to maintain their prowess.
They are good for our game and give it more recognition.
Yes, the post by Ozzie comes off as bragging a bit but how else to make his challenge credible. I for one would love to see the best hitters in softball compete in a long ball challenge. From what I have seen, and I've just about seen them all over the years, my money would be on Jose.

Count me in the same category with The Wood, Bob Woodruff

Lefty, The Dudley Thunder advance balls were multilayer balls and were a grossly illegal ball made to cheat the ASA tests and the ASA quickly banned them. To compare the advance to the ss usa balls by trump is not even close in comparison. You surely are no expert on balls or you would know that. The Baden fire is labeled 44 375 but if you look at the ball you will see it has no association stamp, that's because it wont test at 44 375 its actually much higher in in COR and compression. The trump ss usa ball actually tests out at 44 375 as its labeled and a legal 44 375 polycore ball will always be heat sensitive..

The Baden fire ball used by SPA is labeled 44 375. Players like to hit it because if its tested its 500 lbs. The first player seriously injured by this ball will have a really good lawsuit against the SPA and Baden because they both know its dangerous but use it anyway.
Marv, You are smarter than the average bear, don't make the mistale of using a multilayer ball or a mislabeled ball. If you have doubts about a ball Kevin can have it tested for accuracy.

I will be playing in the 70's AAA division in Las Vegas in the 2nd session and would like to play in another session. I am Jim Cary and live in Texas. If someone has room for me and can get me added to their roster I am ready to play. Either 1st or 3rd session.

Discussion: New Combat Centenarian 10" barrel

I'll add a little history here for you guys who don't know whats going on with this thread. A few years ago when Kevin (Tattooball) was at Anaconda he came up with an idea for Bob Russell (AKA Bobby Buggs) to market a softball with the Evil Sports name. Bobby was becoming well known at the time as a bat doctor and at that time nothing was really wrong with being a bat doctor. Kevin developed the line and literally gave Bob a business. When Kevin left Anaconda he gave Bob the option of continuing on with the new company or with staying with Anaconda. Bob chose Anaconda but he was wary that his sales would decrease with the competition from Kevin's new ball, Tattoo. Bob began a campaign against Kevin on the softball fans board by making up new names on the board and posting negative unsolicited comments using a fictional moniker for softball fans posters. GOBOOM is another attempt by Bob to discredit Kevin. Bob does not live in Iowa, as GOBOOM claims, he lives in Massachusetts. Bob wants Kevins new bat to be discredited because he will be selling the second edition of the white Centurian with Anaconda.
I know all of this because I was in the same situation as Bob with regard to my ball the GURU. Kevin did the same for me as he did for Bob and when the move to Tattoo was made I chose to stay with Kevin, not Anaconda. Bob called me a few times trying to decide which was best for him, he chose to remain with Anaconda.
