July 31, 2004 VOLSBOB | Topic: Teams looking for players Discussion: Looking to start new Team In So Cal! I am a 57 year old veteran softball player in search of a team competing for a national or world championship. Is there someone out there who will help put me together with the right coach and team. This season, I started my 50th consecutive year of playing competitive softball. I am still playing at the highest level available to me (currently a city league "B" (highest) division), playing against all comers (average age in the league is 28-30), and more than holding my own. I hit leadoff for our team and play left field. Our team has won the league championship the last 5 years and I was named the tourney MVP at the end of last season. Athletically, I have been running in national Masters track events the last two years, running the 50M and 100M dashes. I have won dozens of medals at well attended events. Additionally, I am the current state champion in my age group in the softball throw. I write you all this self promotion to let you know I am a very serious player. Normally, I don't toot my own horn so loudly. I am a consummate team player. I have recently set a personal goal of finding a team that is serious about winning a national championship and that is looking for a blue chip player. I live in Southern California but am ready and willing to travel to events nationally or internationally. I will pay all my own expenses. |
