Discussion: Looking to play summer softball in the Detroit area

Do you want to play in the morning or at night. There is very good O55 Tuesday/Thursday travel league that plays 10:00 in morning. What is your contact info. Teams in Livonia, Dearborn, oak Park, Sterling Heights, Taylor and Detroit.

Discussion: Rating Question

So if I read the chart correctly, a 62 year old that played 55 major last year has to play 60 major plus this year if he wants to play his own age? Thats a little harsh. That means he could never play AAA, correct.

Discussion: Best Hitters in Senior Softball

In my opinion Dave Masoian of Michigan aka "Stick" is on of the best hitters out there. Can hit to all fields and has good pop. Not a great HR hitter but will hit for average all the time.

Discussion: a person running after he has been run for. Is it legal

Happened a couple days ago. Batter gets a base hit. He reaches first and has someone run for him. Two batters latter he goes into game to run for someone else (in the same inning). My contention is (and not sure of rule) that a player can not be used as a runner when he himself was run for. I could be wrong, if I am please let me know.

Discussion: Short review of 28 oz Reebok Barrage

I have about 200 swings on my 28 oz Barrage. I am 6' about 230 lbs and there is no damage, cracks or webbing in the barrage. I am using Dudley SY 44 core softballs.
The bat is hot with a good size sweet spot. I think it will get hotter as weather gets warmer here in Michigan. Line drives off this bat are scary and the distance is good but still behind my 28 oz Mele. I am wondering will this bat start to web like the Mele's? If so this bat will be very HOT!

Just took my 28 oz First batch barrage to Florida. I put 150 swings on the bat. It got hot after about 25 swings. I am 6' and 230 poinds but not a crusher. The bat is in perfect condition, not even the typical webbing that the Rebock Meles is known for. Back in Michigan so I swill have to wait to put some more swings on the bat.

Hit with my new 28 oz Barrage today at Woodlawn Hitting Club in St Pete Fl. 65 degrees and over cast. Using Evil batting practice balls. First 25 swings were OK had better pop than most bats out of wrapper. Second time took only 15 swings due to rain, but bat stared loosening up. Last 5 swings, hit fence and took one about 320. Will update next week after some more swings.

Discussion: Mask or Pitcher Protection Screen

We use the screen in our league in Detroit. The main thing is that it must be used for protection, not another fielder. The pitcher must stay behind the screen, not pitch from next to it.

Discussion: Reebok Barrage Legend is GREAT BAT

Alan and Ed

You guys seem to be the Barrage experts. How is the durability holding up on these bats. If it is like the Mele Legend that would be GREAT!

Discussion: Rolling Bat Bags

Caveman, I also carry a helmet, shin pads, chest protector, 2 gloves, sunglasses 4 bats and a first aid bag. I have the Tanel Roller bag. Tons of room and lots of pockets. With all the things I carry still room for more! I think you will really like this bag. Mine is about 4 years old and going strong. Not sure about colors, mine is red.

Discussion: Rules question. Happened at Huntsman

This happened at Huntsman in the game before ours:

Bases loaded one out. Fly ball to right field. Players on second and third tag and score on fly ball. Runner on first never tags up and takes off for second. Right fielder throws to first base before time is called and umpire calls runner out for not tagging up (Not a dead ball appeal). Umpire then claims inning ending double play with the 2 runs not counting! Batting team goes nuts and claims runs should count. Umpire in chief and tournament director were called and a 30 minute argument ensued. They looked thru the rule book and many different rules and made a decision the runs count (not sure what rule they finally found), but were still not sure after they were done.

Even in the stands it was 50/50 if the runs count!

SSUSA or someone who really knows please answer, who is correct.

Thanks in advance.

Discussion: Looking for a contact for the Sparky Mann team from Michigan

Not sure if you heard from anyone, but the Sparky Mann team is playing next weekend in Vegas. I doubt any of them will go back a week later unless your paying! I will get in contact with the manager and talk to a couple players.

Discussion: Question on Gloves

Just got a new Easton Salvo SVS15 (15") at Play it Again Sports. It was regular $55 but was 40% off, couldn't pass it up. It is black with an H web, leather pocket but mesh on back side, very light. Feels great, I do not think it will take long to break in. Will update after break in.
