| Oct. 9, 2011 GaCMan | Topic: Associations Discussion: no major plus rating Am I reading this right ?????? In the topic titled CHANGE there is talk of having only 2 divisions REC an COMPETITIVE. How will this work when the MAJORS AND MAJOR PLUS disagree on playing each other????? This seems a lot closer to fair than either one playing down against teams of lesser ability and age AAA or AA???? Now I see how it is when the shoe is on the other foot. Try getting you clock cleaned 25 to 4 in 4 innings and having to give them 5 runs. This is the reason there are more than 2 divisions. I do like the talk coming of not more than 2 players from an upper level playing down. A true major team(8 or 9) players playing one with only 4or 5 usualy are not equal much less a true major team playing down against a AAA team with no major players. Thats not equal even with 5 yrs of age, much less giving 5 runs. I know everybody should get a chance to play but all equalizers are not equal. A upper level team should NEVER be able to eliminate a team from it's respective division. Don't mind playing them for consolation but thats it. Don't really know why they would want it any other way the upper team is not competing for the lower division championship anyway so why screw it up. JUST MY OPINION LIKE ******** WE ALL HAVE ONE. thanks for letting me vent. |

Perly I agree with everything you said, we do need more than one org. I just think some things need to worked out so this situation doesn't happen again. On a better note I heard from a very reliable source that the Columbus LX today was awarded the CHAMPIONSHIP for the 60s AAA division. Since they worked so hard for it this seems to be RIGHT THING TO DO. It's a shame this couldn't have happened at the tournament, would have meant a lot more. Had our tournament gone the way fathertime35 said I think the outcome would have been much different. Up until we played the major team we had not lost a game and had beaten 3 of the 5 teams in the tournament. Bruceinga you guys have a great team and also are a great bunch of guys. We should have played a much better game against you just think the whole MAJOR thing got in our head before the game ever started. Where as your team seems to be a very solid Major team ours has not even 1 major player.Had we have had 2 or 3 and been on the upper end of the AAA scale maybe could heve done better. That being said there has to be a better way for teams like yours to get some level of equal competition without doing it this way. Well enough rambling on an on MAYBE NEXT TIME!!!!! |
| Oct. 5, 2011 GaCMan | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Faults of SPA What I don't understand is if the major team drops down to a AAA division to play they are playing for the trophy in the platnum division. They win and no one gets the tropy for the gold looks like to me the AAA team that finishes in 2nd place should get 1st place in the gold division???? Doesn't seem fair to me that a major team with 10 major players and 5yrs older, against a AAA team with no major players is equal. Also the team lucky enough to not play the major team till the championship game has a huge advantage. What happens when the major team leaves early after ruining the tourney for most of the teams in the AAA division the teams knocked out are just screwed ? Don't mind playing them but feel like they should not be able to eliminate teams that are not in there division. 5yrs is not an equalizer for the difference between a AAA and a TRUE MAJOR team JMO. If there are not enough teams for the Majors why not combine the Majors and the Major+ divisions???? There is no point in having different divisions and then playing teams down that are not EQUAL. Why not do this let them play down and have the games played count as far as the Majors are concerned and they must win to get the Trophy, but not count against the AAA teams as far as the AAA teams are concerned in there division. Just food for thought, a lot of thought needs to be put into this. |

| Oct. 3, 2011 GaCMan | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: REVISITING THE EQUALIZER RULE I was one of the 55AAA teams in pensy to play this team not afraid to play anyone. At the very least should have been heads up game that being said we still were not a match for this team. To me 5 years is not an equilizer from AAA to a major team of this caliber. These guys were GOOD also they were great guys to play other than getting my clock cleaned don't mind playing them. They were nothing but nice but we were overmatched. That being said we should have played a far better game than we did. Oh by the way we were the team that only scored 4 runs how bad is that???? My thoughts they should have not been able to eliminate us from our division or have any effect on the standings. We had been playing pretty good ball up to this game having not lost one till then. Well I'll shut up now got this off my chest enough crying over spilled milk. NEXT TIME MAYBE???? |

My team 55AAA had a 60 MAJOR???? not sure about this rating,but we had to give up 5 runs and were never even in the game with these guys. Nothing personal against them they were great guys to play but way over our head. Then on top of that after putting us out on Sat they left and went home not playing at all on Sun. If you were lucky enough to not have played them at all WOW what an ADVANTAGE. We won both of our pool games and our first bracket game. One other team that only played 1 pool because of a forfit won both of theirs also, but the drop down team got the #2 seed we got the 3rd seed. This happend in every age group but the 50s and guess who won them all majors I think. Only reason they didn't win ours was they left. I don't have a problem playing them as consolation but they should not be competing for the goods of a AAA tournament!!!!! |

On the first one I called several times checking on it always talking to the same lady(always get a name and #) was very nice each time on the last ones didnt even bother to call all bats were delivered around 7 or 8 wks.Dont think calling really helped any on the first one so didnt bother on the others. |

I also still like the present senior combo. As far as players altering the bats there will always be cheaters in any game, CALL THEM OUT WHEN YOU SEE THEM DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO PLAY OUR GAME!!!!! |

I will also refuse to play with anyone useing altered equipment. Play fair or don't play at all. You can play hard ,aggressive and get down and dirty and still keep it clean. Joey Ammons Col.55s |
| July 21, 2011 GaCMan | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: When did it all start for you? I can still remember the first TPS I ever swung it was like WOW!!!!! Then when the worth supercell C405 came I thought it can't get any better than this, but the balls got better too. I wouldn't mind going back to those bats as long as we went back to the hot balls too. My first home run was hit with the TPS up until then I was nothing but a base hitter could put the ball anywhere I wanted to. The home run thing was and still is addictive to me, its really hard for me I have to work constantly at not trying to just hit the ball hard with no thought other than wanting it to fly out of the park. This last yr I have seen where I think I can do my team way more good returning to that way of hitting so thats what I'm trying to do . Still enjoy hitting the occational long ball but would be more happy with the higher batting average, even so still like a good ball and bat. KEEP IT SIMPLE, PLAY FAIR, THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY GAMES LEFT, ENJOY THE MOMENT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL END!!!!!!!! |

I watched some young guys playing in local city tourney the other night using the 52/300 ball sounded like a mush ball contest. Even so there were only 2 maybe 3 bats being used by either team recon they were doctered??? They were still mashing this ball but they were young,strong and fast. If you loose the ultras and the balls boy howdy will that really change the game don't know if I would vote for that???? Still say let the players that are registered for senior ball vote and lets see where the chips fall. KEEP IT SIMPLE,PLAY FAIR,ACT LIKE GROWN MEN SHOULD,THERES ONLY SO MANY GAMES LEFT!!!!! |

Stops a lot of runners just for extra speed. After that and reading these posts I really think Tater is right do a poll of everyone and I'm assuming everyone that plays is registered with either spa,ssusa and see what the players want. Use the player registration number to track who or help keep crooks from stuffing the polling box!!!!!!We can argue over this just talking or posting every once in awhile but will never really know what players really want. There are only a few who are passionate enough about the game to get on here and debate this and thats great, but at the same time everyone should have some input, if you are a registered player. There are a lot of players that will never voice there opinion otherwise, seems to me this would speak for us and put some of this to rest at least till the next poll, WHY NOT????????? LET THE PLAYERS MAKE THE CALL!!!! |

Also I dont like the outside lines either purpose????? Move the front line forward 6 to 12 inches remove the outside lines and lets play ball. Who cares how far you stand from the plate as long as you don't step on the plate????? Some of us are bigger than others with longer armes!!! |

(2) I like the rule that if you pass 1st and make it to second you do not get a runner, but if you can only make it to 1st and need one you can get one. Per inning 2 only. (3) 3 and a walk in pool and 3 and a out in bracket suits me. (4) I'm too easy I guess either way suits me I guess the whole purpose of this is to speed up the game and to make you swing the bat, works for me. All in all I just WANT TO PLAY BALL EVERY DAY LETS KEEP IT SIMPLE AND PLAY BALL THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!! I do like the hot bats but it does't seem to be much different than back when we had hot hot balls and single and double wall bats only difference is the bats dont last and they cost 2,3,4 times as much as they did back 20 years ago. I'm not hard to get along with I JUST WANT TO PLAY BALL!!!!!!!! You never know when it might all END. |

The people I have met and the level of competition. Senior ball is so much better than when I played in my 20s and 30s the guys I play with don't have the attitudes that was every where in my early years.The group that I play with is so positive and upbeat, we just have such a great time playing together, It shows in the games we play. It's more of a team effort than an indivitual one. May just be our group but most of the teams we play seem to be the same way. |
