Time to change the format of the board
Guys, I have been on message boards since the beginning of internet time and I have got to say this Board needs a makeover...it is very hard to navigate, you have to go through all the posts before you get to the latest commentts and you have to sign in everytime you leave the board....i know i probably have the wrong settings on the last one (maybe) but whoever is in charge of the site needs to take a look at some of the more user friendly sites I have used in the past to get an idea of how much easier this board could be navigated....some others i use are....golfdiscussions.com, softballfans.com, inlinewarehouse.com, and northeastsoftball.net (now changed to softballforumz?.com)......you may have to sign into these sites to gain access to the boards but you will see how eye pleasing these other sites are and this one can be.......just give it a look before the grenades come out...thanks,bkb555....brian

Board is fine as it is, and I am familiar with some of the boards you mention. All boards have their own personal 'look'. If you actually use it you might get used to it.
You can read w\o signing on, just cant post here, nor add photos or such. It is a very, very controlled board. If you seek there are 4 basic rules. Other boards have a few also.
Enjoy it Brian.

and really , without blowing any holes in my questions, I am sure I am not hte only one who might have had a few constructive comments about the board.......being you have almost 4000 posts, you are familiar with all the peculiarities of this site and I don't have a problem with the content, I am just trying to maybe look at getting to it easier.....trust me, I have been on Mohr board when it began and was THEE beginning of softball websites, so I DO know how to navigate these boards......why not just take a little survey and see if any other members have any input to the site......

Board was reconfigured about 2 years ago when it was sort of like that, if I remember correctly. However, If you do not log off the site, when you leave, you will be still logged on and do not need to re enter the BS. lol.
I'd bet there are others that would like it also.

As mentioned, do not log off then you will not need to do the BS two parter. I was a member if the Mohr board for years back when it first started up, do not go to it SB Fans board any more. Many on here do go to Fans, I haven't checked Mohr in a few years. Many other SB sites are good.
Menus in red at top are drop downs and pretty simplistic. For myself the message board in red I just use the 1st drop down. All these DD's cover everything or there is the search box too. That one isn't the best, imo, but it works, and goes WAY, WAY back in posting history for subjects.

bkb555, taits is almost right. If you post almost every day, like he does, you will always be logged in. If you read it every day, but don't post, it will still keep you active for about 3 days, then drop you. But logging back in is a snap. Your name is at the top, if you chose the option of them remembering your posting name and password, all you have to do is click O.K., and then return to the message board. Takes about 10-15 seconds.

Like taits, I love the ability to go back a couple of years by selecting the poster's name. Scrolling back for months or years is a pain.

Omar...I do go to this board every day...i may not post everyday but I look at it....that part is easy, but I like to read th eposts and go along but if I want to comment on something, I have to re-sign-in before I can comment and when i leave the site, I NEVER log off...maybe it is something with my computer but every other site I go on keeps me logged in not matter how long i have been away from the board.....if you have the answer to this , let me know....most boards let you know as soon as you click on the site if you are logged in.....

i think i fixed my problem....i made the site a favorite but did it while I was logged into the site...this seemed to fix that issue but it was only a few minutes since i left the board and came back.....maybe the first time I made it a favorite, I wasn't logged in

It helps to know how to stay logged in, but it would still be nice to be able to insert links to other sites.

I use a program called lastpass keeps track of all of your passwords and gives you the option to login you in automatically for any site you wish.

I use Norton Vault, (free with Comcast internet) does
the same thing. I have maybe 120 logins to manage, I
login to the vault once and it manages all of my user
id's and passowrds for me. Only works on my home PC, so when I'm at work or on the road, I have to remember
the important ones. Not easy at our age...

i have internet explorer and besides my bank account and ebay account, this site is the ONLY site where you have to put in your user name AND password every time you leave the board....i can see the security for banks and ebay accounts but even my user name still is present when i go to them...I know it seems like a small thing to some people but with all the technology available, you would think a site like a senior softball webpage would be a little bit more user friendly....just saying

bkb555,
Signing on each time is not a big deal at all and it is the correct system design for any message board or social exchange. It's a 2-5 second task at most. And it is by far not the only site designed like this. Most sites are like this requiring signon.

Products like Norton Vault can be helpful if you have many login accounts to manage. Good suggestion ShaneV.
