GSC Bat approved for Senior Softball
Congratulations to Steve McKinlay for having a vision and making it happen! Anybody who has ever had an idea and then tried to bring it to market will realize this huge accomplishment of Steve's.

A senior bat with a year warranty, a huge sweet spot and hot is now in production soon be ready for sale.

Made in the U.S.A.

If this is as advertised, I would expect every guy on my team will buy one...unless we just buy team bats of a varied weight!:=)

Cal50:
You're 100% correct. It was a bold under taking and Steve's company has taken a lot of heat over the past couple of years. To hang in there and see it through is more than commendable. A lot of guys would have stopped short.
He believed that 'the Earth was not flat' and went about proving it as it relates to softball bats. My hat is off to him and his fellow workers, Chip and Jason.
Whether it becomes my gamer or not is only a small part of the equation, as I see it. I will now have a quality bat that I can use under almost any condition without the fear of breaking it. No, it won't last infinitely but I will get 1,000+ swings out of it.
I'm looking forward to the opportunity to swing the approved version. I've been a Combat guy since 2007 and will likely continue to use them in some capacity. I've never broken one of them within 500 swings and frequently get/got over 1,000 swings from them. But I will keep an open mind when comparing the P413 to my current bats.
The really large fellows will benefit from the P413 since they'll get a lot more from it than they're currently getting (in terms of duration).
I'm not the visionary that Steve is but I believe that the GSC bats will force other companies to produce senior bats with more durability (w/o sacrificing pop). Combat has already been experimenting with an internal liner that will create more long usage.
I believe that the P413 approval is a very positive step for ALL senior players.

IMO - there are a number of positives to this bat already mentioned, the most impressive is the fact, you can't alter this bat to make it hotter.

If you try to roll it, you will crack the barrell end, no place for the expansion, one piece bat. If you drill it and lathe it, you cannot cover up the hole, you can't glue composite to composite. You might be able to put weight in the handle, but why.

I think the most fun will be watching all of the other companies trying to match the concept. They will eventually catch up, but until then, it is going to be like the swap meet on Sunday morning. Just crazy.

does this mean that I finally have a chance at getting my Spirit bat or are my hopes way out of line. I am glad for all that stuck through this bat or no bat. Thanks Harry

Is this bat End Loaded or Balanced?

Will there be EL and Balanced version?

Does it swing "heavy" or "lite" like the Black Centenarian?

I was told the bat would be avalable for sale in Reno. Please remember this is what I was told by one of the reps on his 50+ team a couple weeks ago. I will be seeing him this weekend and will ask him again.

Avis, it is a known problem with Combats that has been discussed here. You can search this site for
specific advice. If bought through an authorized seller and it occurs very prematurely, you can sometimes get an authorization to send to Combat for a fix. Additionally there are thread her which tell exactly how to fix it- it involves using a boat adhesive which adheres well and has a little give so it doesn't crack and fail.

Avis, I just checked your profile and see you bought from a reputable guy. Don't do anything to the bat. Call Alan.

Yes, congratulations for finally getting the bat approved. I do remember a representative for GSC saying last year on this board that the bat was approved then. I believe that was Chip. I also remember the repeated assurances of how the bat was to be out soon. Just back up the warranty and prove the companies worth It will be interesting if the fake labeles appear so the bat gets used in regular leagues. I will wait and see the real bat and the warranty backup before ordering. Hopefully this is a new beginning for this tarnished company.

Kind of strange, in spite of all the discussion about the bat being approved, the GSC website is not providing any updates other than adding a couple of videos. Seems prudent that they should be providing some up to date info.

From what I understand, GSC is holding off until the warehouse has 2,000 bats in stock. I was told there are 1,500 on the wait list for orders.

2 guys on this board have reported being at "The Factory" months and even more than a year ago. What were the employees doing when they made their visits to the "Factory"?

And they still haven't made 2000 bats?

How long does it take to make these bats?

Sure, R&D takes some time but these guys claim they were at the factory where the bats were being made.

I am not affiliated with GSC nor do I sell bats, I just hit them.

The individual repsonsible for the development and patent regarding this piece of sports equipment has his primary business in another sports area and is quite well known in that arena. Only prototypes were being made and does not constitute production. Now that the bat has been tested by Dr. Brandt, production can begin in mass, which is completely different than having one(?) machined tooled to produce a specific product.

To the best of my knowledge GSC is not accepting orders with money until there is stock in hand to satisfy requests for product. Performance aside. The true test will be once GSC begins accepting payment and the delivery time after purchase.

Until such time, I am very happy swinging The Dirty with my Reebok as back up.

For me it is a little stiffer than the Reebok and I like that. Both of my Reeboks are really good, more importantly whatever bat you swing should be RIGHT for the person swinging it.

I don't usually break bats, but the Dirty seems to have a more durability.

If you are having success with your Reebok don't switch.

These prototypes were available at Reno. Quite a few guys on my team swung one. One guy hit a shot to the fence and said it had as much pop as his Miken. The main excitement from my teammates was the one-year warranty, not better performance. Only problem is that currently GSC is only producing end-loaded bats. I found them heavy to swing (I'm a balanced guy). Even the 26 ounce end load felt heavy to me compared to a couple of other end loads that teammates use. But I never actually hit a ball with it, so it's just a quickie observation. The reps said they were planning on producing balanced bats in the future. Until then, I'm not interested.

I sent ED (surf88) a email some time ago but no reply back on getting one, so I bought a Dirty from Kelly's. Haven't swung many Reeboks in my weight class, so I'm going by feedback on this and only time will tell on this P thing and a balanced version. Wonder if the ASA version is also end loaded...
Was nice to read one was out there finally to try out at least.

I did not get your email. I have been taking orders but NOT charging CC until Chip and Jason tell me it is time and the bats are ready to ship. Guys/Gals have been patient and that is appreciated. Give me a call. 970-729-3145 (ed@ewandrews.com).
