June 23, 2013 southpaw Men's 70 1077 posts | Proud to be an honorary member of Columbus LX!! The Peach State Classic is always one of the best SPA tourneys of the year. This year was no different, but what made it more special and meaningful was the graciousness, kindness, and thoughtfulness of the Columbus LX softball team and other friends as well. Out of the goodness of their hearts, they made an old grandpa cry a few tears, but they were tears of joy and appreciation. When I asked for prayers for my granddaughter, Mena, back at the end of May, that was all I wished for--just everyone's prayers. Your prayers were miraculously answered in that she survived and is doing wonderfully well. Instead of multiple plastic surgeries, it will be minimal requirements and scarring to her face. She has no memory of the attack and still loves dogs!! Columbus LX and others didn't just stop with prayers, however. Tickets to SIX Flags for Mena and Family, and a very generous love offering have reminded me of some very special lessons: There are still a great many truly good people in this old cynical world and sometimes an old grandpa doesn't really know how many friends he has until the Lord chooses to use an unusual event to to reveal it to him. From the bottom of my heart, thanks to all! |

I am so glad of the results about your Granddaughter; I do not think there was a dry eye in the whole group at the presentation. I have been in SSBall since 99 & that is the most moving event that I have ever witnessed. I will never forget it!!! Glad to hear the awesome report & hope to see happy Mena 6 Flags Pics very soon. I do believe that there were other teams involved in the whole process; I do not know exactly which ones, but I do want to extend a BIG thanks to my other Band of Brothers. We are on different teams; yet we are on the SAME TEAM!!!! Columbus LX L |
June 24, 2013 southpaw Men's 70 1077 posts | Thanks, John. I was recovering from my own little difficulties, so I could only watch from the dugout all weekend. I did get to bat once though and I was 1/1!! Don offered a few days earlier to just mail everything to me, but I thought that it was too important to not be there in person and be able to express our deepest appreciation to Don, Columbus LX, and other friends. The ceremony was truly special and is something I will always treasure. As already stated, sometimes we do not realize just how many friends one has, until a moment like Saturday. God bless. |
