Congrats to "The Don" and his Nighthawks in their undefeated tournament in the 55 Division. It's always a joy to get spanked by such a class act and hear Don give me all the excusses why we were'nt beating them. Again, great to see you, Don. Also, George R, Steve I and Glenn I with the "Studs" team... great to see you all well and playing great ball.
We also had a great time seeing three other good squads... Top Gun III, Double Play & Wongs.
Average temperature a warm 80, here in Phoenix it was a warm 112.
GREAT job SCSSA.

Fan Grabbers 55

Hey Johnny,
What was the format? Did they place all the 55's in a single division and use the equalizer?

FOFO We played a best record out of (5) games. The good thing about that
is that we get to play all the teams in this five team division. It consisted
of Top Gun III, Wongs, Nighthawks, Studs N Duds and Fan Grabbers. The bad part is that there was no championship game. As we came out cold (11-1 loss) to the
Nighthawks, we would have loved to see them again. After our first game we followed with two walk-off wins on Saturday and found a cold Double Play and
Wongs team on Sunday. Balls were Stotes and we never got to the limit of (5).
We had a stretch of (8) innings without a score ????? NEVER seen that before.
Dave Dowell would have probably scheduled differently, but Marv and Jerry both
went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accomplished that.
It was exceptionally fun to see everyone and enjoy the weather.

John thanks for the complement. Our tournaments on the west coast (11 per year) are not three day events like SSUSA. You can do a whole lot more with three days and more fields. Nor are they qualifiers. We do one a month for the enjoyment of the guys. The format will always vary with the mix of teams entered. With 24 teams entering this one, only four fields and our guarantee that everybody gets 5 games its a little like stuffing 50 people in a phone booth... whats that? :O) Hope to see you in September. We have a lot of 50M M+ 55M M+ teams signed up. Plus we have 8 really nice fields on one complex to spread out more.
