Aug. 21, 2013 armiho211 Men's 70 449 posts | another senior ailment : TOE NAIL FUNGUS ! I wonder how many guys had/have this problem. how did you clear it up, and did it go away completely or did it come back ? i had both toe nails removed a few years ago and shortly there after, the problem came back. another time i took pills and eventually cleared up the problem, but again a few month later, it came back. weird, but it only affects the toes. i have tried : tea tree oil, white vinegar, off the shelf stuff, but alas, no help. i havent tried it yet, but i read someplace that soaking your feet with horicultural corn meal and water once a week might do the trick. any comments ??? thanks ! |
Aug. 22, 2013 BruceinGa Men's 70 3233 posts | thirty years I had 5 or 6 toe nails removed because of this. Without the nail the fungus never reappeared on those toes. I did get it on the ones with a nail. My dr prescribed the pills but I couldn't continue with them because of liver damage. Last year I tried the drug store remedy as seen on tv. I used 5 or 6 tubes and no success. While still working three years ago I had a repair call at a podiatrist and saw that they offered laser treatment for the fungus. I talked with them and they weren't too optimistic about treatment. I decided not to try that. I figure I'll just have to live with it. Good luck with it! |

Aug. 22, 2013 DCPete 409 posts | Going to the DPM tomorrow for the same problem. Last time they recommended removing & cauterizing the part of the big toenail that's growing into the toe. Apparently when they cauterize it won't grow back so you're not running around feeling like there's a nail in your big toe. |
Aug. 22, 2013 Fleck14 Men's 55 6 posts | I'm treating toenails right now with Lamisil, appears to be working but time will tell. Have lived with it for 30 years decided to try to get rid of it. |
