Jan. 7, 2014 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | Update on Webbie's new knee? He's probably too busy rehabbing, but does anyone have an update on Webbie25's progress with his new knee? Thanks, Mel |
Jan. 7, 2014 Webbie25 Men's 70 2406 posts | Hey, Mel-thanks for the query. It is going about as expected-working on gaining range of motion, walked a couple blocks today, doing CAM on the stationary bike, stuff like that. Still a while from feeling 'good'. Talked to Lewis (Steve) today-he had both of his knees done and he is ready to start softball practice this weekend-wow! Talk to you soon. |
Jan. 7, 2014 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | Webbie, I know what you mean about feeling "good". My surgeon said I wouldn't care much for him for several weeks. Glad to hear that it's going well. I'm scheduled in a few weeks since I didn't get any cancellation move-up. Keep the faith, Mel |
Jan. 7, 2014 Webbie25 Men's 70 2406 posts | Sorry you did not get the move up-when do you go in? Keep me informed, ok? |

Jan. 9, 2014 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | Webbie, Keep up the good work and softball as well as pain free movement will be right around the corner. I have my pre-op in a couple of weeks and get my new knee Feb. 18. Couldn't be more anxious. Mel |
Feb. 9, 2014 Webbie25 Men's 70 2406 posts | Mel-email me-weber5069@msn.com--I'd like to keep up with you on your surgery. Is it a total knee replacement? Thanks, Webbie |
Feb. 9, 2014 lemons Men's 65 323 posts | Hi Webbie, As they say, it's in the mail. Hope your rehab and recovery continue to go swimmingly (a little pun). Thanks, Mel |
Feb. 10, 2014 Mr. Manassas 244 posts | Webbie....Just a little advice..if you have a pool that you can use! it is a great device to help you in your rehab.I had both knees done six years ago and was frustrated trying to get back to softball. My PT guy told me to simulate as much softball related motion as I could in the pool. it made a huge difference for me. I still do some exercise in the pool at least three days a week. Just my two cents on the matter. |
Feb. 10, 2014 MurrayW Men's 65 220 posts | I'll second Mr. Manassas's pool advice. I found that helped me to increase my range of motion a lot since I did not have to support my full body weight. |

Feb. 11, 2014 Webbie25 Men's 70 2406 posts | Mr. Manassas, MurrayW-thanks for that-it is fabulous advice. When I had my ACL replaced in 1990 I 'ran' miles in shoulder deep water in the pool at the Riverpoint Club here in Albuquerque. I think I will see about doing that again. Thanks! |

June 11, 2014 AZTOMC Men's 55 139 posts | Getting ready to have a knee replacement surgery. Any update on Webbie's knee replacement? Is he back playing yet? Any rehab tips? Thanks |
June 11, 2014 softball4b Men's 70 1243 posts | Webbie is playing, he called me last week to tell me about his triple, then tell me about his double, then tell me about the time he went 5 for 3 with 4 HRS, then about area 51....he will respond, but he has removed his brace and is feeling frisky. |
June 12, 2014 Stretch14 Men's 50 202 posts | Mr. Manssas, did you have both knees done at the same time and how long was it before you started back up? Had both of mine done at the same time last December 19th. Still sore. |
June 14, 2014 Webbie25 Men's 70 2406 posts | Mike-you never listen, do you-it was 6 for 3-I hit 2.000 that night. And, yes I did just get back in from Roswell (not area 51) last night. Still a little hung over from the Alien Ale I had from the microbrew. (Alien Ale is real and really is pretty good!) AZTOMC-I did play my first game in 27 years without the knee brace. It is a bit scary, but felt strong and I am probably back to 70% running. Have not played outfield yet but did take a few flies in the outfield in pregame practice last week. It just needs a lot of strengthening yet. This weekend I am stepping up the pace and will probably play about 12 or 13 games between this weekend here, league, and next weekend in Pinetop. Tips-Strengthen it as much as you can before the surgery as this WILL speed your rehab. Then do the rehab faithfully. Start working it as soon as you can. Work your flex and extension every day, and work on strengthening the muscles around it. But don't try to go too fast-it takes 3-4 months to totally set. Good Luck! |
July 12, 2014 softball4b Men's 70 1243 posts | Camp Pendleton is conducting shooting exercises this weekend. At least that was the story in the paper. Actually, it is a Webbie sighting. The loud booms were caused by the balls coming off Webbie's bat at BP on Friday. Saturday he will debuting his talents,as a guest player for GSC 60 at Richard Steed park in San Clemente. |
