Southpaw's Warm-up Tourney in Birmingham, Alabama
Saturday, March 1; a one-day warm-up tourney at George Ward Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The park is also known as Green Springs Park; the address is: 331 16th Avenue South Bham.

I have 5 fields and will take no more than 20 teams. It will be 4 team round robin, 3 game guarantee. 5 HR's, then walks; 1/1 count with extra foul; run rule is 15 after 5.

Entry fee is $190 and includes umpires (2 per game), 6 softballs.

Info: Steve 205-647-2881.

I have 7 teams at present. Thanks

I have been contacted by one 40/45 team; would love to have 3 other teams for a round robin!

Steve, Huffman Electric will play on March 1. We have reorganized. And will play 65 AAA this year. We are dedicating this season to our Friend, JW Jones. Send me the details to my email (thlee300@bellsouth.net). Waiting to hear from you. Joe Lee

Southpaw, is this a nonsanctioned tournament? Meaning, we don't have to have SSUSA cards yet, just be of age?

I believe all you need is your money and 10 players. Great tourney.

Hey friends, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Joe, I will e-mail you as soon as I complete this message.

Jerry, my one rule that keeps everyone from making an unnecessary trip is that we will not conduct the tourney if it is not going to be 50 degrees plus. So, I usually make a determination a week prior the tourney.

Also, Jerry, I can only take a maximum of 20 teams. That way, we can start at 10 a.m. (central time) and finish around 5 to 6 p.m.

Vance, it is not a sanctioned event. Everyone looks at it as shaking the rust off, getting some batting and fielding practice, and good fun and fellowship.

Cajun Joe, thanks for your endorsement.

I might add that the park has a great concession stand; not your normal hamburgers/hotdogs. It is good food at reasonable prices.

Sorry, Jerry, did not answer your question. I will take teams up to the week of the tourney, or until I have reached 20 total. Thanks

Thanks for the info, go ahead and put Southern Hurricanes in the 50+AAA. Will you have a AAA and major bracket or just group the 50+ together? It really does not matter, I was just wondering how many 50+AAA are left in this area since alot of them have moved to major this year.

Southpaw, do you know of any teams coming from the KY-TN area that might need a player? I have not played in this tourney before and would be interested in any info you could provide. I would be open to playing for others if needed also. I am 53. Contact me at hoopman37@yahoo.com or 270-519-0173. Thank you

Curt, no one from that area has been in contact yet. Most of the teams who enter my tourney do so the first two weeks of February, so there is still plenty of time.

I have 12 spots left.

Vance, I have 8; 3 others have inquired and will let me know over the next few days. which team are you with, Vance?

Joe, your profile does not reflect your e-mail address. I will double check my files.

Normally, I do receive a number of contacts over the first two weeks of February. So, hopefully, others will be in touch. We will play regardless of the number of teams, weather permitting. thanks
