Shadow Park Softball Complex
We will be playing at Shadow Park (9/26-9/28) in the 50AAA Division.
How are the fields? Thanks

To me, the complex feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. It's a hike from pretty much any of the hotels we stay at along Boulder Highway and farther than that from the Strip.

The 2 turf fields are ok, the 2 grass fields are pretty bad, the year we played there, they didn't cut the outfield grass. Luckily I play in the dirt and didn't have to wade through it. The lights are terrible if you have to play at night and it is way the heck out there in North East Vegas.

Appreciate the information. Hopefully the grass fields are better this year. Hate to pay $695 to play on bad fields. Our team is staying on the strip so I guess we should allow plenty of time to get there. How is the weather in Vegas at the end of Sept.

I would second what BruceAZ said about the fields. Last time I played on the grass fields, I got my feet tangled up in some kind of monster desert weed and nearly fell down. This thing had tendrils about half an inch in diameter and was about three feet across. I pulled it out by its roots and carried it to the dugout to convince my teammates I wasn't a total spaz!

I would add that between the military aircraft coming in and out of Nellis AFB and the gun range up in the hills in the other direction it made me feel like I was back in a war zone. The weather in Vegas was great the last time I was there, but it can get pretty cool with the wind at Shadow Rock.

Its really not the far unless you're walking. You could get lucky and get a free AIR FORCE THUNDERBIRDS show. BruceAZ is correct about the grass fields.

Fields #1-2 are natural grass/dirt ... Fields #3-4 are the turf fields
