Dec. 17, 2014 fisherman 26 posts | player qualification can a player who lives in illinios play for a team in minn. |
Dec. 17, 2014 SSUSA Staff 3483 posts | NO, unless that player [1] has a valid "snowbird" card for Minnesota, [2] he is a Major+ player in the 50+ thru 70+ age groups and would be one of the two allowed "out of region" Major+ players on the Minnesota team, or [3] he is in the age 75+ or older age groups and has more relaxed East/West of the Mississippi River roster eligibility ... Minnesota and Illinois are NOT bordering states ... |
Dec. 17, 2014 joel 1975 131 posts | what about a player from Michigan can he play with an Illinois team, better check your ATLAS before you answer this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Dec. 17, 2014 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | Since the dividing line is the Mississippi, would not it depend where the team was domiciled in MN. The river does not run along the border throughout the entire state. ;-) |
Dec. 17, 2014 SSUSA Staff 3483 posts | joel 1975 ... Trick Question! ... (But we've heard it many times before) ... The answer is NO ... We have not and do not recognize "water borders" in the Great Lakes area, regardless of where lines may be drawn on the bottom of those lakes (in this case, Lake Michigan), for purposes of the "bordering states" rule application ... softball4b ... Yes it would! |
Dec. 17, 2014 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Fisherman, you gave a good clue in an earlier post because you stated that you were 75. The trick now is the team from Minnesota 70 or 75? It also looks like you asked earlier about contacting the team that Steve plays on. I left his contact information on your other post. They are a 75 team. Except for one team here, our older guys often call me for help with the internet. So it is nice to see a 75 that knows how to use it. Good luck, kid. |
Dec. 18, 2014 neck10 714 posts | if that's the case then iowa and Missouri don't border Illinois either the line has to be the middle of the Mississippi river. |
Dec. 18, 2014 SSUSA Staff 3483 posts | neck10 ... We carefully worded our response to say "..in the Great Lakes area.." ... Would also have a problem with the Colorado River dividing Arizona and California! ... We also allow bordering states across the Pacific Ocean for Hawaii (CA, OR, WA) and Alaska (WA) ... You mentioned Missouri ... It's the #1 state for access to other states, with a nation-high eight bordering states (AR, IL, IA, KS, KY, NE, OK and TN) ... |
