Feb. 20, 2015 Capt Kirk 541 posts | 2015 Las Vegas World Championship The 2015 World is scheduled for a three (3) day tournament for the 65+ teams, will the tournament format change? We were playing four (4) seed games and then a double elimination format. Will the 65+ teams be playing two (2) seed games and then a minimum of three (3) bracketed games? Also, SPA allows 65 AA and AAA teams to play with eleven (11) defensive, I think it is a good idea. Capt Kirk |
Feb. 20, 2015 SSUSA Staff 3465 posts | The format for all four sessions of the 2015 LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters will be the same this year: Two seeding games into three-game-guarantee brackets for all divisions of more than four teams ... This is a 5-game guarantee on scheduling over three days ... The 11-defensive-player option begins for men at the 70+ age group and for women at the 50+ age group ... This is a playing rules item and would only be considered for potential change at the annual SSUSA Rules Committee meetings in late November or early December ... Accordingly, men 65+ teams will play a 10-defensive-player format for the 2015 SSUSA tournament season ... |
Feb. 20, 2015 2bornot2b 30 posts | 2014 was 6-game guarantees, I believe. From the website: "Men's 65+ and Older: Six games minimum scheduled, with four-game Round Robin into Double Elimination brackets. (Session #2 runs four days)" I may be wrong, but It looks like the 65+ and older teams will be getting fewer games for the same fee. Am I misinformed? |
Feb. 20, 2015 SSUSA Staff 3465 posts | The 65+ and more senior divisions will now be getting the same number (5) of minimum games scheduled as all other divisions of play, at exactly the same entry fee as they all pay ... The change was in response to many Session #2 teams expressing their opinion that both the six-game guarantee and the four-day session duration were too many of each ... |

Last year many of the 70 AAA teams were all in after 4 prelims and the real tourney hadn't even started. Much prefer the new format. |
