Southwest Championship
We were playing a game Sunday morning after the rain delay. Wefound that the other team was using a Rock ball but from another sanction it was asa santion ball way harder we called it the blue would not take the time to review the situation said it was the same ball play on. Ya it look the same but so does every othe asshole right, so I took it up myself to call Dave Dow the situation they told me some other rule that I cant find in the current book of shit. He sent over a ufc blue jk to throw the ball out they had a bunch of them and said they got them from tourney director, but yet nobody else had them why cuz I asked around. As this took place they did no more damage they scored acouple but no more monster bombs I believe this was a big factor in are game they did the same thing in both games. we didnt figure this out till the second game this would fall under icing the balls right wow can I bring some 50 core rock balls to the next event no more giving the balls out police this situation I thought we were all old guys still trying to play not cheaters just saying.

I never heard anyone curse out a rule book before, but now I have. The balls should go in through the umpire to inspect before going into the game. I also ask in the plate meeting for the pitcher and catcher to also help me with monitoring the ball just in case something should happen such as the foul or home run ball returned not being the same one.

Ok lets get the record straight. The ASA ROCK that I know is a 44/375 but its a legitimate 44/375. The ISA ROCK that SSUSA uses, at least for the rest of this year, has 44/375 stamped on the ball. It is a double covered ball. (ergo the squishy feel) BUT the owners and or representatives of Evil, Baden, Dudley and Tattoo softballs all tell me the ISA ROCK is at least a 500 compression ball. The ball was originally designed to fool the ASA testing equipment. (reason for the double cover) And it did originally. Since, the testing equipment has been improved the ball did not pass the ASA compression test. UTrip and ASA went a single covered ball that will pass the testing equipment.

This is not a scientific example but I secured some new Dudley 500 compression softballs for a home run derby that a league (I play Mondays) put on. The consensus was the ISA ROCK out performed the 500 compression ball. So your logic that the ASA ROCK is harder doesn't hold water. Now it may break bats (some people believe its the raise seems) but its not harder. Don't believe me do your homework like I did. I wish I could get rid of the stupid ball but my customers demand it. The reason is obvious. 400 foot shots over a 300 foot fence! OR until ISA put a legitimate rating on the ball. I dont know about you but if you knew you were playing with a 500 compression ball with senior bats would you play infield? We (according to some in the know) are. Good Luck

The difference between the rock and the ssusa trump ball is 2 things.

First the rock ball. It is a .44/375 compression ball. It has a composite cover which is a woven back material with a pu impregnation. When it is hot this cover stays the same and does not stretch. This balls weights 6.75 to 7 ounces.

The ssusa ball is a synthetic cover .44/375. It weights 6.5 +- .2. When it is hot the synthetic cover will slip on contact with the bat and you will lose some performance. It is also lighter, the same weight as all other association softballs. Being lighter it will not flex the bats as much as the heavy ASA ball.

The ISA rock, well not much to say there. I make one with our new company and I don't even want to hit it with senior bats.
