What Determines a Team being Bumped Or Downgraded
My question is how does a team get bumped from Major to Major Plus seems like some teams get it early and others just get overlooked. What is the criteria? I heard through the mill that the committee looks at run differential and if that is true its not looking at the full picture if said team is Home team in most of their games. My feeling is the scorecards should be reviewed all scores logged as well as how many homeruns are hit by that team per game. There is one team here that should have been bumped last year and logged some results for a year and if they are not doing well then petition to be downgraded. I feel the system is flawed and needs to be understood on how teams are looked at when being upgraded or downgraded. What are the steps?

titanhd,

I read that but still its vague, doesn't say anything about overall scores, homeruns or anything. Asking umpires for their comments is not acceptable they can just say no they are fine if they have a good relationship with them. The system is flawed a team in my localk area was bumped to plus not sure why but another team that won States and Nationals in the same year was not bumped. That same team won the Nationals again. Something just doesn't seem right when it comes to reviewing teams. This association makes $$$ hand over fist and should be doing a better job after each event looking at scores, homesruns hit by the winning team and seeing how many times they scored 5 runs an inning as well as when they were home team as that skews the ending score if they win by 5 runs or less.

If you win vegas you are moved up,if you win the ISA with six teams in it you move up,if you are beating every team in your division by large amount's & if you hit your home run's plus a bunch more for out's you will get moved up.It's hard to police everyone all the time everyone want's to play triple a because that's where all the team's are .the ssusa does a good job at what they do if you have a question ask them, but don't try to tell them how to run there business.

look at Motown they won the 55 major division two yr's ago,got moved to major plus the next year ,lost three of there best player's.then they got beat bad all year, but you didn't hear crump crying he took all the bad loses & went to a lot of tourney's they looked at his team (Motown) after a year they met the requirement's to moved down so they were allowed to move back to major.so the system work's if you let it work.

Tim Don't flatter yourself.
If I thought you were important I would spell your name correctly.
Most of your answers make you sound like a pathetic whinner. I read them to laugh and realize even cry baby underachievers can be recognized on this site.

I do like the fact you capitalized the second L in your name just reminds me of the LOSER you are.

Congrats on your second place finish in Sacramento. I'm sure your team won't have to drop players now according to your philosophy.

Take care.

Benji, your last post really hurts my feelings..I actually believed I had one guy that thought I had all the answers..do you know how long I have craved a fan like I thought you were?

It saddens me to read one of the great Sunnersville guys sees me as a Loser.

You are the Benji from the almighty sommersville aren't you?

If not?? That's even more disheartening...even if a summersville elite attacks me, it still fed my need to have one of the big boys know who I am.

The "pathetic whiner " attack towards me made me start to cry.

So I guess that would make me a cryGEZER. Not a crybaby

There is no way anyone would see me as a "underachiever" if they really knew how un-athletic I am and knew I was always a weakling, never being able to bench press 225 or do 7 pull ups. Heck..the only arm wrestle I ever won was against my little sister.

Why just being able to play over AA softball should be seen as an accomishment for me.

Thanks for the congrats on our second place finish..it was very nice of you to not point out we only scored ONE RUN in the finals. It means a lot coming from such a great softball player as yourself.

In closing...I just gotta ask three questions...

1) Did you really run rule the East Bay Oldies (the losers that came in second like my team did to you guys) all three games?

2) do you really think teams dominating like you guys just did is good for the health of any individual division?

3) is it true you were screwed out of an all tourney path last weekend? I hear you love collecting those valuable things..I hear they are going for big money on eBay.

Unfortunately I was working in Europe and did not get to the tournament until late Saturday.

It's SOMMERVILLE. And a wise man once told me jealousy rears it's ugly head in many ways. I understand that better now after reading your posts about my team.

Work hard, practice, and get better I thought that was the American dream until I started reading things you post. Go back to my earlier post about guys like you. It rhymes with wussification.

And no I don't strive to make all tourney every tournament I strive to be tournament MVP. However, I play on a team where any tournament, any guy on SOMMERVILLE is capable of being MVP or all-tourney. 14 guys who think just like me and do the things to be the best they can be. OVERACHIEVERS.........

I wouldn't say we dominated because we lost a game. We made adjustments and figured out how to win the tournament.

I'm sorry you are un-athletic and lost to your sister in arm wrestling.

I don't think that mattered when you hit middle and hit a pitcher from another team and later laughed about it this past weekend. You probably swing a shaved ass bat too.

Lastly I will leave you with this:
At tournaments I frequently hear this; the guys on MTC jayvee are good dudes it's just Millette that is a penis. (political correct word)

I'm sure being a penis is your hobby and from what I hear you are very good at it. You go bro.............

Benji, let's take this one at a time. I am kinda sloooow.

Sommersville...misspelling was not meant as an attack or jealousy...it was just not really caring what the teams officially called and fat fingering the N instead of the M..I thought there was an S in the middle...my mistake...

As for jealousy...first I would need to care as much about winning in softball as it sounds like you do to be jealous. I have to admit...I have fun playing softball but I'd just as soon play some local thing as Worlds. but when we go to worlds I will try as hard as possible.

Didn't you lose a meaningless seeding game that the other team was given runs and an extra fielder? Or maybe that happened before you got back from Europe so your team was missing a guy always in the running for MVP..on that issue...I gave up MVP, Gold Gloves, All tourneys and Hall of Fames years ago...I play just for the fun of it...matter of fact...if you came to my house you would see NOTHING associated with softball in it.

You claim I laughted about hitting a pitcher...that did not happen.....maybe you need to look into that one a little deeper.

As for me swinging an altered bat...I did knowing swing a shaved bat five times in a league that was filled with shaved bats....I put on a Pink skirt before I did it andet all the players on the opposing team know I was swinging one of their bitchstixs...they laughted u till I was 6-7 with six homeruns..
Now...in seniors I will swear on all my loved ones life's that I have never swung an altered senior bat...all my senior bats are available for anyone to swing when they play us.

Your statement about the jayvee and me...I think many/some of your fellow teammates have fallen into the bitchstixs queen, steroid users or been a part of teams that have stood out because they were filled with such players...I have attacked such teams for many years...I am sorry if some of your buddies hate being seen as harmful to softball.

Oh, I forgot the most recent reason for your circle to call me a dick...I believe dynasty Plus teams should be broken up just like every other dominant team in a senior division...I believe..EBO will soon follow the Sports team from SoCal, the Warriors and us out the 50 plus door...at that point you guys can be crowned kings without playing anyone. Good luck picking an MVP.

And...for those friends of yours thinking I am a dick for sharing a solution I believe would help grow the west coast's plus programs...I don't care if you see me as a dick for stating shaved/rolled bats, steroids and dominate teams are bad for the softball.

Slooow, Un-athletic, weakling, penis, philosopher, non competitive, analyst, spokesperson, you should give up playing softball and play BADMINTON or CHESS.

Anyways I am sending you one of my MVP plaques so you won't feel left out.

Thanks for the laughs.

Just curious Benji...how many of the current players on your roster would still be playing on your team if it didn't have the sponsorhip $$ it does?

In my mind, the real difference in good Major Plus teams and Good Major teams, forced to play Plus ball...is the money. Would your players pay to play...and pay for their own uniforms, travel expenses and other incentives??

Benji...no need to send me anything...

You have nothing softball related that would equal things I won when I cared, or turned down when I didn't need them...

besides...I'd be hard pressed to think your at best marginally better then my pushing 57 year old azz as a softball player.

I was told you are pushing for all the senior awards you can get because you need to collect so many awards to get into the senior hall of fame..better save your funds to BUY that ring;-)

Mulewhipper,

Sponsors have been a part of softball for more than 30 years. We on SOMMERVILLE are blessed with a generous sponsor who likes winning. All of us are very appreciative of the $$ he puts up.

Would our team still play without the money? Of course we would. We probably wouldn't travel as much, but we would still play. This team is about the competition, competing against the best, putting in the work it takes to be great, and the brotherhood we all share.

We just happen to be lucky enough to have a great sponsor..........

Just because a person strives for awards doesn't mean that person collects them. They go into a cardboard box and get donated when the box becomes full.

Just thought I'd share with you since you sound left out and I'm a nice guy off the field.

As far as collecting awards to get into the senior hall of fame, it's more important to me that my teammates know I give them 100% of whatever I have every tournament. If the hall of fame happens so be it.

And besides I am already in another softball HOF..........

Take care tim.

As someone who has been in the 50 Major Plus division for 11 years now I've seen a lot of exceptional players and many very good players. Over the past two years of watching Benji play day in and day out I can say, as a 5 tool player, he is right up there with the best of them. And he could care less about all tourney awards. What he cares about personally is playing a high level of softball. He works at his game all the time. He is extremely dedicated to the game. And on our Sommerville team we have A LOT of TEAM first guys and Benji is one of them.

Tim I'm sorry Benji hurt you with his words. I know he hurt you right in your feelings. I know you wanted to strike back at him. But painting him as a selfish player is not him. You must have him confused with someone else.

Tim is a quality person also, he has always put team first. Tim has his opinions, I am not saying he is always right nor am I saying he is always wrong. Each and everyone of us has their own opinions and views, but to make negative references towards any persons is unfair unless you truly know that person. I highly doubt either one of you have every just sat down and talk to Tim.

I agree that your team Sommerville has many quality teammates and you are a pleasure to watch when you are playing against other quality teams and not against me. Lol

Mango, no hurt feeling here...just stating what I think. After Benji opened the topic.

I have never been one to not take a challenge or hold my tongue...striking back can be seen in many ways..I took Benjis stuff as more or less something to have some fun with..I would guess he felt the same...

On the tic for tac stuff....I thought it was interesting to read that many of Benjis friends have said I am a "penis"...yet he did not mention one example of why those people say it...

You see on that statement of me as a "penis"...stating examples/which Benji didn't do would lead to deeper discussions...something many with limited proof,or NO proof at all, never want to do...name calling without experiences/facts is childish...

That is why I listed things I thought would have lead some of those he know to say what Benji says he has heard.

I first started playing with KEGs in '91, I was getting beat my Parnell starting in the late 80s, Beeler in the early 90s, I was competing with Salow or Heller from the early 90s also...

Now...if Benji really wanted...I would be all for discussing the reasons his boys state I am a "penis"...but...

I highly doubt that will occur because most of the softball guys that hate me, hate me for pointing out that their actions or actions of teammates have been bad for softball. And when the light is shined on why I believe as I do...they bad for softball guys scurry to the shadows.

No worries Benji, I have nothing against teams with great sponsors, I'm envious.

You have to admit though, it is much easier to put together a top caliber team with that great sponsorship.

I would be willing to bet that the best teams in Plus softball have always been well sponsored. I'm OK with that, it is what it is...personally I love playing against you guys...I do get carried away with my competitiveness sometimes, but's it's all done out of me wanting to win...especially against the best.

I admire you for trying to keep coming back. If you worked as hard at softball as you do commenting on this board I am sure you would be a much better player.

I personally don't know if you are a penis only listening to others and not just Sommerville guys. I do think you always whine and cry about our SOMMERVILLE team being made up of quality players. Consult your therapist and I'll bet he tells you that is just a jealousy thing. You are 57 years old time to stop whinning and crying.

And finally it's okay to be a penis, but the whinning and crying about dominate teams needs to go. Put in the work, get better, stop crying and try making yourself better rather than settling for mediocrity.
