So I take it that there are no gates up there? I was at Midwest early Friday and checked that one gate for you. It closes, but balls still go through. Bats can still roll under the right side. I wish I had your cell number that night. I would have sent you a couple of classic pictures of what the grounds crew did/didn't do for Friday night. I should have come up there and hung with all of you. I had a decent weekend and hung with friends down here. Both tournaments that I was supposed to work cancelled. Beautiful weekend and the park was empty. So we had golf cart races at 2:00 AM. I parked mine underneath the scoreboard on diamond 3 just for you.

Nancy, there weren't any adult beverages associated with the 2:00AM golf cart derby was there :)

I haven't seen 2AM in a long time, unless one of my room-mates for tournaments is snoring LOL.

Yes, there certainly were. We were at the Fishbowl across the parking lot which specializes in adult beverages. Let's just call it the starting line. I have seen a lot more sunrises at Metro when I was younger from staying up all night talking about softball than I have at Midwest, but let's just say no one has ever gotten pulled over if they stayed in the parking lot. In all fairness to sleep, I have slept very little in the last year and a half. So if your roommate has you awake at 2:00 AM, you might be able to call me to tell you softball stories to get you back to sleep. ;-)

17Black, I was thinking that you might have seen 2:00 AM when you drove from Florida to the Fishbowl. I know you were beat but dedicated. I tend to spend too much time at ballparks, but it is what I love. I have some pretty good stories from over the years. Of course the older I get, the better I was.

Dave did not have to contend with our Timmy. That gate on 3 has been like that for a long time. Diamond 1 is configured like 3, but the small gate is on the 3rd base side. So there are not as many wide throws to it as 1st, plus it does not have the space around it that our favorite diamond does. Several years ago the drainage went bad on it. I actually had a pond with 2 ducks swimming in it between 2nd and center field one night. Fortunately he finally fixed it.

If your shortstop wants throwing practice to 1st, I am available.

Everything is better in Michigan, silly.

Nancy, no, I spent the night near Atlanta, before driving rest of the way to Indy and the Fishbowl.

The adult beverages, for me, are best the night before a tournament, or just after holding a trophy up at the end. (OK they are pretty good most anytime :)

I'll keep the 2AM chat line idea open for future reference :)
