55AAA Bracket
SSUSA Staff: Just wondering if the 55AAA bracket will be filled in? Since most of the other brackets have been completed, it would be nice to view a final completed bracket. Know your staff have been busy with the Worlds. Just wondering. Thanks!

I dont understand why the brackets cant be kept up to date and filled out as the games end. It doesn't take a computer nerd to do this. I watched the tournament directors at shadow rock and hollywood parks sitting in there chairs doing nothing while the games are being played, they could be emailing or txt'n the winners and losers and scores or even calling in as the games finish to a central computer and have a person that, thats all they do is post the info from each park in almost real time or at least no more then a 30 min delay. I do this type of stuff on a daily basis and its so simple to do anybody could it.

I did some research on the teams we were playing in fridays seating games on google and came across brackets from senior softball from 2012 that were not filled out, so this has been a problem for a long time. With smartphones and tablets now a days it would be nice to be able to keep up to date on who's winning and who's losing in real time almost as its happening. One person dicated to keeping the brackets updated would be nice and very much appreciated by all the teams, its always nice to know who your playing next when your not at the park or how your hometown teams are doing at other parks.

nick ... This is a slightly modified re-post of one from 9/29/15 ... It's valid today as well ...

Quick hitters to get you up to speed as you jump in on this topic ...

• Top priority is on tournament administration preparedness for the teams about to go to Las Vegas, the Men's 40-Masters ... That will remain unchanged for the next couple of weeks ...
• The scheduling/scoring software is my 10-year-duration, custom and proprietary creation (no commercially available options will do the job) ... ONE copy of it (on my laptop) ... Another on a backup disk ...
• Last Saturday, for example, was a "typical" World Masters day ... There were 10 Directors who had minimum 16-hour days on site at their facilities ... None of them complain about it, but additional workload to satisfy the curiosity of persons not there is most likely unreasonable to demand or expect ...
• Best interim information until the event ends (on October 25th) will continue to be posts by those who were in the brackets ... Full detail scoring and brackets will be updated sometime post-event ...

What this really comes down to is differentiating between when you WANT something (apparently right now, or sooner) as opposed to when you might actually NEED it ... The complexity and magnitude of this event, as measured against the personnel resources and time available for same dictates the timing of this much lower priority item ...

Now, back to completing the Session #4, 40-Masters Division brackets ... Thanks for commenting!

Hat's off to SSUSA, awesome job done by everyone. The Directors put in 16 days in 105 degree temperatures. Thank you very much for a great tournament.

I am not sure why ALL bracket's results are not filled in and current at least the night the games are played. There are a lot of folks that participate in these tournaments as well as those that follow teams back home that want to know how their teams are doing. As much money that SSUSA is making off these tournaments, you would think they could get someone to do that?

KS ... See above post for specifics. I'm "that guy" that does all of the score reporting and typically have lengthy days as a Field Director. The ones that are filled out are where I work, but other Directors have similar type days, some even longer. It's simply a matter of personnel resources as measured by available time. Our jub is to run the event as well as possible. Ancillary wish list items from outsiders are, by definition, a lesser priority ... Personally, getting a few hours of sleep is a bit more important to ne than trying to round up scores from up to 10 other locations and entering them all night! ... Thanks for commenting!

I thought this discussion board was not a forum for disparaging remarks towards any individuals. To be called a "Rattlesnake" for asking a very appropriate question is out of bounds. Negative comments should be kept to oneself in the future!!

No worries biggflyy1953 ... That's a bit of an inside joke between Sparky.1 and me ... I'm reasonably sure no insult was intended, and none was taken by me ... All is good, but thanks for thinking the "good thoughts" ...
