Use Ladies ball
The ball used in women's softball is slightly smaller than the one men use. I find it easier to throw and catch. I use it when practicing hitting with a soft-toss machine and find no difference in the ability to hit. I think the use of a ball of this size should be considered for men's senior softball use. It would improve overall defense because the smaller ball enters and remains in the glove pocket better, is easier to transfer from glove to throwing hand and seems to contribute to throwing accuracy. Because the fingers are more involved, more distance is probable. The bottom line is that use of this smaller ball would contribute to the retention of defensive skills and to the overall enjoyment of the game. Thank you for your consideration. Mizzou

Mizzou ... The women's ball you mention is not a candidate for men's play ... It has a compression rating of 525 (men's ball is 375) and is way too "hot" for men's play ...

Mizzou!!!!! you are kidding right.

We play one tournament a year on a baseball field with 11 defensive players in young men's ball. 10 homerun limit per team. The 10 is always met.
The fence is 340 down the lines and 390 to center and that women's ball goes over the lights sometimes.
OH and by the way we but a net in front of the pitcher to save his life. Sounds like you have thrown it but let a power hitter hit one back at you when you are pitching, I would bet you would no longer request the women's ball to be used in men's play.

This coming weekend I'm playing in a "backwards" tournament, young and old will be playng. We will be using the regulation ball for the tournament but will be using the 10" ball for the homerun derby. This is my third year and have seen some monster shots!!

So if I understand the original post, because guys have gotten older their hands and gloves have also gotten smaller and the 12" ball does not fit in them anymore????????

I think there is some tongue in cheek, chain jerking going on here. I doubt anyone with one post is serious.
