Tim's Appeal Denied
Tim’s Appeal Denied. And it should be pointed out that this was Tim's appeal and not MTC's.

Thank you SSUSA and Fran for ending this. In denying the appeal Fran succinctly explained the reasons. A lady of unquestionable leadership and integrity. She has always displayed a sense fairness and perspective. The explanation of the ruling explained the “intent” of the existing player add rules. She pointed out that past practice reflected said intent. There was nothing nefarious in SSUSA’s original decision to allow Cornerstone into the tournament. There was no subterfuge or chicanery. They won the tournament with a legal and approved roster, Apologies are in order from Tim for all the unfounded and wild mischaracterizations of both the Cornerstone team as well as SSUSA and their staff, in particular Dave Dowell.

Thank you Fran for putting an overdo end to this. This merciful ending will allow, Tim to go tilt at other windmills.

And lastly, finally one more time - Congratulations to Cornerstone on your Championship.

So where is this ruling. I have not seen it...I would love to hear the explaination on the facts I have found to be troubling.

Most people would look at the top of the page. That is where it is listed. Tim there is a simple solution to this. If you do not like the rules that SSUSA has put forth then go play elsewhere.
That's about as simple as anyone can put it.

Tim I have been playing the senior division for 5 years and softball for 36 years, in all that time I don't know of too many people I have not tried to get along with or put up with but I feel if our paths ever crossed I would not be able to put up with you. I find it somewhat disturbing that you have this much time to complain and find ways to find blame. How about you just show up to the fields and try using a glove and a bat it seems like everything else you have to offer has failed.

I don't want to start this whole thing over again, but can someone answer this for me:

Was MTC a 50 Major Plus team last year?

Did they automatically get re-ranked for entering 55 tournaments with basically the same team?

There is a fine line the way this is handled, I don't think that a 54 year old Major+ player suddenly becomes a 50 Major player just because he turns 55 and enters a 55 tournament. I believe that ranking should follow them, just like everyone else.

Maybe SSUSA should like at something like a grace period of one season or something, there are a whole bunch of Major Plus players that are 55 or over.

Mulewhipper,
You are correct. MTC was a 50 major plus team. That’s what is so galling about this whole protest thing. He has a 50 major plus team in a 50 major tournament and comes online and starts bragging about how “awesome” it is that they did so well. Well yeah, you shouldn’t have been allowed in the tournament. Its called sandbagging. Tim comes in with 10 major plus rated players and has the nerve to complain about another team having 1?!?

Donll, almost correct with your post... MTC was rated 50 major plus in 2014, however they moved to 55 plus this year and had to drop two players... yes I said Drop two of their players that were under 54 years old and had to play with a 55 and over roster at the WMC and throughout the year. So, their team was not the some 50 plus team..

Mulewhipper, when MTC dropped Rennels and Kurdy, they were allowed to play 55s this year with a true 55 team. The rules for SSUSA state that a 55-
plus player are allowed to play 50 major level , they have an equal rating.. so hence no rennels or Kurdy allowed to play with them on either level.

And I don’t know the answer to this. I believe your team was 50 major plus either this year or last and filed an appeal and went through a process to be re-rated back to major. Therefore all your players are probably rated 50 major. Did MTC ever file an appeal to get their team re-rated? Or just start playing 55 plus. Wouldn’t their players still be rated 50 major plus absent that appeal and/or the 2 year timeline of playing at another level. I’m assuming that all of MTC’s players started this season as 50 major plus rated players. Are you suggesting that by only playing in the 55 age group of the current season by seasons end you are magically re-rated down to 50 major as a player?

Donl,
It doesn’t matter if all of MTC’s players were rated 50 major plus and they violated the 3 plus player limit. Was MTC in violation of the 3 player plus rule- it appears that way. Did it provide them with an unfair advantage that the other teams didn't have. Yea probably. But, it doesn’t matter because SSUSA gets to decide who plays where. Its in their rule book (13.4.1) It’s a pretty easy concept and I think Benji addressed it adequately in another thread on the board.

And finally, although you didn’t say it directly it could be interpreted that you implied MTC players were a bunch of sandbaggers and whiners. If so that is an unfair and in my opinion totally inaccurate characterization of the MTC group. It has been my experience that both MTC teams are a good bunch of guys that enjoy playing softball. And as LEELEE has pointed out the only one with whining issue seems to be Tim. I believe the MTC guys just like a lot of guys wanted to play a little more ball and that's what motivated them to get in the 50 major tournament.

Mango,

you are correct, we registered as a 55 Major Plus in 2015 and no we never applied to be reclassified from 50 Major Plus. During the season we decided to just have some fun playing softball in LV 2 weekends in a row, so we registered our complete 55 Major Plus roster to 50 Major also. Which any other team in the NATION could have done, so we could play a little more softball. I know this might sound crazy but our team just likes hanging around together and having fun. We actually are all great friends, you know like a family. Our wives enjoy hanging out and watching a bunch 55-60 guys acting like they are kids again having fun. And yes each family has many different types of characters and we have many of them. Once again congrats to CORNERSTONE and I hope everyone has a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Yes Mango..Our Manager filed and were dropped back down last year to Major.. MTC's team went to a all 55 and over team so they were allowed to participate at the next age group down a level. They had to drop to 50 age group player in order to achieve this..They had a hell of a run for an all 55 team in the 50 major division..
