Clyde(Poindexter)Phillips was selected to be inducted into the SSUSA HALL OF FAME next year. Clyde retired from senior softball earlier this year. One thing about Clyde he does it in style. Helping his team to a Grand Slam Championship this year at the Masters. Clyde says two things to remember, Chicks dig the long ball ! Bling and Rings baby ! Congratulations. We will miss you.
Clyde Phillips will be joined in the SSUSA Hall of Fame's Class of 2016 by long-time player, manager and sponsor Audie Hollis of Hollis Appraisals (FL), also in the "Player" category. There was a tie vote in the Player category. The third Class of 2016 member, in the Manager category, is Al Murray (FL) of Center for Sight 85's. Congratulations to all three! They will be featured in the upcoming Senior Softball News issue later this month.
I've played against Clyde for parts of 4 decades and he is the epitome of 'walk softly and carry a big stick'. When we played his teams we were always counting backwards to determine how far he was from batting... we viewed him as being in scoring position as he stepped in the batter's box. We were willing to walk him with the bases loaded... we didn't do this for many other players.
He was a high profile player who was also a credit to the game. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Clyde... on and off the field.
I like the way SSUSA selects their HOFers. It more closely resembles MLB's method.
Congratulations, Clyde!

I've been lucky enough to play against and with this man for over 35 years He's one of the best hitters this game has. Congratulations Point. P.S. I was there when they did walk you with the bases loaded.

Congratulations to a terrific player and teammate. One of my best years in softball was being Clyde's teammate. I was 55 and had been playing baseball or softball for almost 50 years, but still learned things about the game from Clyde that I had not heard of before. He is a great competitor and student of the game, and well deserving of this significant honor. Congratulations Clyde! Bob Bronson
What teams did Clyde play for in his Senior softball career ? They must have been good cause he sure was winning a lot. Maybe it was cause they just had #20 CLYDE POINDEXTER PHILLIPS. He was always so quiet, you didn't even know he was there. Until he got in the batters box. She gone !
