Jan. 26, 2016 LMR 16 posts | Tourneys in the midwest I understand the Midwest does not have the number of teams the rest of the country has and therefore will not have as many tournaments available. In the months of June and July there are 6 tourneys scattered between Minn, Wi, Ill, Mich, and Ind. I do not believe there is a great conspiracy here, but couldn't there be a little better coordination here? In the past, many of the same teams have gone to both Rochester and the Windy City tourneys, with a few going to the ISA in Columbus. They are now on the same weekend. The ISA will probably not be greatly affected, but one of the other two will have their numbers greatly reduced. Don't the tournament directors see this? The 6-10 teams from Wisconsin, and the 3-6 teams from Minnesota that have historically gone to both will now have to choose between the two. Are these really the only weekends available? We all want more teams to compete against. This certainly doesn't help. |
Jan. 27, 2016 Ho 301 posts | If you can keep a secret there are four senior tournaments in Ohio (Columbus 45 teams, Barberton 90 teams, Sylvania 50 teams, Dayton 35 teams) another in Shelbyville(44 teams) and one in Illinois (30). All in June and July, Ho |
Jan. 27, 2016 LMR 16 posts | Thank you Ho. I did not extend my search that far away. Tried to keep the drive under 6 hours. Also, those are not listed yet on the website. |
Jan. 27, 2016 Ho 301 posts | Can't tell you on the USSA website due to rules. Lets just say it isn't ISSA, ISA or SSUSA. Give me a call and I'll tell you where they are, Ho (330) 336-3958 |
Jan. 27, 2016 SSUSA Staff 3490 posts | LMR ... The events Ho mentioned are (likely) sanctioned by our good friends at SPA ... Don't worry about which association you play with, just play as many events as you can and enjoy it! |

Jan. 30, 2016 Nancy Allen Men's 55 1438 posts | Ho, another secret, SSUSA has 2 qualifiers in Indiana, and ISA has their Senior World Series there. Hope to see you at the Brickyard at Indy. |
Jan. 30, 2016 Ho 301 posts | That isn't any secret..he mentioned the ISA in Columbus, ind and tournaments in Indiana. Everyone should know about the Brickyard it is one of the best in the midwest He didn't (at least according to his post) know about the tournaments in Ohio. Ho |
Jan. 31, 2016 Mike Fossil's 60's Men's 65 9 posts | I agree with LMR about more tournaments and I think what he was talking about is there are 3 back to back weekends and that gets hard for us old guys. Moving Midwest Championships to Rogers AR makes it a 9 hour drive for our Iowa based team and longer for the MN and WI teams. I don't know but think attendance from the Upper Midwest will be down. Here in Waterloo, Iowa we have a great 5 diamond complex with 300' 10 foot high fences, watered infields/outfields, 2 concession stands, 2 modern bathrooms, and plenty of room for 6-7 teams to have BP at the same time. Promise our complex will make everything else we play on in the Midwest and often time in Vegas look bad. We have hosted "A" ASA Nationals, 35 over nationals, USSSA Regional's and many state tournaments. Would love to host a Senior Tournament. |
Feb. 1, 2016 skid7 Men's 50 10 posts | Also doesn't help when you are major plus and then tournaments don't let you play because of your rating. It makes no sense to me teams get moved up to major plus to grow the devision and then have Senior tourneys that restrict those teams from playing. JMO |
