Video on the 2015 Senior Demarini One El
Went hit and the wife came to video my mechanics. Brought the One
with 50 swings and was surprised how good it hit for 50 swings. The fence was 310 ft. I never talked about the 310 fence it is the 345ft.
behind it. This bat feels great to swing and sounds great. You can hear it on the video.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get a better swing out of this old body. Most of the time in a game I have poor pitch selection. In BP I might get a good one to hit 1 out of 4 balls pitched. It is what it is on the pitching. I'm lucky to have someone.

Joe this is one of many possible ways.

Do not commit your body to early. Wait on the ball. Timing the balls arrival to "that spot" with the arrival of the bat at "that spot" delivers Speed and Power to and from the bat to the ball.

I see many batters lose their power by committing their body by moving forward or leaning forward on their front foot before the ball arrives. This applies to those that never hit over the fence also (actually many times more). It is called the Weak Hit.

Might practice with a batting tee and just swing a bat at home.

Thanks for the input everyone. Should be helpful. Bogie I plan on buying one. I tell my pitching buddy we are not playing Utrip. 3ft. to 6ft high of the ball
coming in. Better than nothing at the moment.
Thanks

Lefty, yeah, while most advanced players start where they want, they always end up with hands pulled back as the front foot hits. For many, to start with hands back helps simplify this. Im trying to come back from major back surgery and it is helping me get hands back more..it was a struggle trying to be consistent when I couldnt rotate well but now taking time to relearn how to use hips, its a slow process..I tip my hat to those with joint replacements or permanent injuries who learn to adjust so well.

I use a "Pop Toss", because most of the time I am by myself in BP. I have a tee, but to me the ball is not moving and too easy to hit. Sometimes I use the tee to practice snapping my wrist. In the last two years, I made just two adjustments and brought my avg up from 600 or lower to high 600's or higher. First one, I kept the bat lower in my stance so I could get a more upward swing to hit over the infield. My old swing, I swung pretty level and cause a lot of ground balls. Second, I have a slow start on my swing so I had to get my hands closer to the strike zone and not behind me so much. I do lose power, but my contact has improve greatly. When I hit the ball solid, good things happen. My swing style is not for everyone and some people will disagree, but it has been working for me, because I found a way to hit the ball solid or get it over the infield. I am not a homerun hitter and most likely never will be, I just want to get on base. I think maybe you should try different things to find your swing. Mainly Practice, I try to hit at least once a week to keep my eye and hand coordination in check.

Crusher, you said "committing their body by moving forward". I was doing batting practice yesterday and I seen what you are talking about. I am staring my step forward to early and already committed before I started my swing. I found a way to delay my step forward by keeping my left leg in the air, until I am ready to swing. In fact, it is like my swing is starting as my step forward is starting. I do see the additional power I get, by waiting on my stride. Thank you for the tip. The problem is I have to keep practicing it, because I am not used to it yet, but I do see it beneficial and trying to be the best I can be.
