THIS IS AT SSUSA
We are a low level 55AAA mostly comprised of local guys that like playing together. This is our first year together, one of our players that have just played one tourney with us, happened to play 50M+ two years ago, last year he didn't play with anybody. We picked him up and now SSUSA want us to play 55M or he can't play on the local tourney her at VA Beach. He is a very good player but not an impact kind of player. personally don't understand how much of a difference one player can do on a 55AAA team when we can only hit 3HRS...with senior bats anybody can hit a HR. SSUSA this is slow pitch played by bunch of old people, there is no million dollars contract waiting for us...why can we play with our friends even if one of them played once at a higher level? We need some regulations but not to that extend. We will abide by your rule so he can play...but will never play another one of your tourneys, you can keep your sorry patches and your stupid rules on the West coast and stay away from the East coast. ISSA is doing a fine job. Smoke is coming out my little brain. Merry Christmas, Happy new years, Happy Easter.

Do you already have 3 55M chips on your team? If so, then the 50M is the 4th chip.

I have run into the same issues as well, with a player carrying a rating. But they players carry the rating that they had when they stopped playing SSUSA, the two year clock to be able to appeal a rating stops when they player stops playing.

( we had a player that played with us, stopping in 2014 when we were still rated 50AAA, we are now rated 50AA and he can't rejoin us until next year.)

I wish you the best of luck, but the question to ask SSUSA is "who are our 55M chips already?"

Its not about 1 player, its about having 4 players at the higher rating if I understand the rules correctly.

I believe Paco says above that the player in question is rated Major Plus.
A Major Plus player can only play at Major Plus or Major. He cannot play for
any team rated lower than Major. I think that is the problem with making the whole team play at Major.

Dave,
You are correct. I missed the plus.

Paco - please ignore my misinformation for this situation.

Paco, as missouridave stated major+ can only play down 1 level but continuation of rule 4.2(7) states that players who are determined not to be major+ caliber by SSUSA may request an exemption in writing. So it would seem that a) write the request (however it may be too close to VA Beach timeframe) or b) have team play major as was stated in your original post.

Andres ... It's really about the absolute prohibition against a 50-Major+ history player (Rating Index = 9) playing on a 55-AAA team with an R/I = 6 ... A team may add up to three players who have an R/I no more than one above that team ... An R/I spread of three simply isn't going to be granted, regardless of how many out-of-rating players, if any, that team may already have ... Your manager knows this ...

Thanks for the comments and the SSUSA respond. Your rule also states "unless it is determined that the player is not a "key" or "impact" player" which he is not. However your decision is made and we have no choice but to accept it (you still have time to do the right thing) so accordingly we will play 55M so our local friend can play with us, we will compete and who knows we might shock the world. Moving forward I don't see us spending the money for the Loudon or Raleigh tourneys and Vegas is now definitely out. Hopefully you will reconsider for next year and allows to play where we belong 55AAA. Oh by the way I am Paco to you. LOL. Thanks for the post acknowledgement.

Your team would have a slim "chance" at such an exception if the R/I spread wasn't three levels ... It's not granted at even two, with almost all exceptions being for an R/I spread of one if the player might be #4 in the out-of-rating count ... This one just isn't do-able ... We've already done the "right thing" to ensure the protection of other lower rated (55-AAA) teams you may play ... Good luck whenever/wherever you play! ...

Quick question for coaches is you have to play a pool game at 0830 on Saturday morning after playing two pool games early on on Friday (0830 and 1030 or so) and the double elimination does not start until 1230 on Saturday...would you rather forfeit the game and let your players rest and probably have BP at 1000 or you play that game at 0830. Personally I will let everybody rest and take my chances after all it is only a 4 teams bracket. What do you think?

Paco, it's been a crappy winter/spring in the northeast. We haven't been able to get outside and just get used to playing outside. Playing indoors just doesn't cut it. So I would rather play the 3rd game on Sat. am. We will be playing there also this week and looking for the season to begin! We will probably have 15 guys down there and this gives more guys a chance to get some knocks and play the field. If I was a member of the team you were playing, I would be annoyed coming all that way and not getting to play even if only a seeding game.

Good luck, whatever you choose to do.
ps- I'm not the coach just a guy who loves to play!

We will never just don't show without first running it by the AD and the other team. I am just saying which will be more advantageous the rest or the game. I am not the coach either I am just asking the question...no right or wrong answer I believe. K Man welcome to the Beach hope you have a wonderful time, weather as of now seems to be just fine low to mid 60s.
