Runner
We had an odd situation in a tourney last weekend.
The other team gets a hit and the hitter gets a runner, no problem.
2 hitters later they get a hit and they have the guy that earlier asked for a runner went in to run for the second hitter.
Can he run for someone else after being replaced as a runner?

NO ... The original runner who was replaced by a courtesy runner may NOT then appear as a courtesy runner himself in the same inning ...
______

§8.5(5)COURTESY RUNNER OFFICIALLY IN THE GAME (Rulebook page 49)

A courtesy runner is in the game when he touches the base. If a courtesy runner is determined illegal, he will be called out upon touching the base and no other courtesy runner is allowed. The original runner may not return as the runner. An illegal courtesy runner on base is committing a continuing violation and may be called out upon appeal at any time while on base or, if he scores, prior to the first pitch to the next batter.

obagain, if you see my post from a week ago titled, NOT A WAY TO END AN OPEN INNING that's exactly what happened to us at the VA Beach tourney.
We knew the rule but got so wrapped up in the length of the open inning and jockeying guys in and out. Shouldn't be as likely happen in a 5 run max inning but just might. Also kind of like having a courtesy runner go in when he might likely be a on base when it is his turn to bat. Person keeping the book really needs to be cognizant of both!
