NOR-CAL State championships
Question for SSUSA. Do you know where the 50's will be playing
either elk grove or sacramento?

All divisions will play in Elk Grove on the weekend ... The Sacramento complex is available to us on Friday ONLY ... Play there will likely be late into the evening, but all weekend play will shift to Elk Grove ... Divisions that will play in Sacramento on Friday are currently undetermined ...

Yep ... 50's are in Lincoln ... We lost the Elk Grove Complex on Thursday, but were able to pick up Foskett in Lincoln at the last minute due to a Tournament cancellation there over the weekend ... With Friday open at Foskett as well, we dropped the Sacramento Complex on Friday so that the teams didn't have to move once they start ... Good luck!

Great . Foskett , warm weather and Trump balls . Worst tournament of the year . I cannot understand why we signed up for this again .

Sorry John, SSUSA had told everyone, long before the schedule came out, that everyone in 40, 50 & 60's would be playing in Elk Grove. The only exception being the possibility of playing at the Sac Complex on Friday. Correct me if I am wrong.

I know of a bunch of people that got rooms in Elk Grove on Priceline & unfortunately they have no recourse to make changes or get refunds.

Steinbrenner ... Yep, we DID say that (big as life in the second post of this thread), based on planning to use the Elk Grove Complex and Sacramento on Friday (only) ... It was quite a surprise to us on Thursday evening to learn we did not have that complex, so Plan "B" was up ... Davis had only two fields and Woodland was already booked, as was Sacramento (which we knew), for the weekend ... Fortunately, Foskett had a tourney cancel, so those four fields worked perfectly as the only viable solution ...

For future reference, booking in the Host hotels we contract with seldom, if ever, results in the "Priceline Problem" ... Countless times over the years, Fran has picked up the phone after talking with a team and gotten the problem resolved at no cost ... Maybe we should also look at whether to discontinue the policy of trying to "crystal ball" TENTATIVE Field Assignments in multi-site events ... An overwhelming percentage of the time we get it right, but occasionally when we don't, things can get a little loud ... Good luck everybody! ...

Staff, maybe a simple "apology" would have sufficed for all of the people that made plans based on your statement.

Those of that run & organize teams also have a tough job, as do you. This is my 12th year doing that & we take quite a bit guff from team mates when there are last minute changes.

We patronize almost every local Western area SSUSA tournament. Lately you have been making it tough on us getting the word out to our players.

It's not a mystery who I am. I have supported & defended SSUSA for a long time. Please remember that we are the customer & you are providing a service.

Mark .. It sounds as though you are seeking an apology for the real-world effects of circumstances that were outside of our control ... I have no problem with that, so I apologize for making a mistake by giving you the best information I had available at the time when everyone was clamoring for "where are we playing?" ... The above statement was a simple explanation because, quite honestly, there isn't going to be anything we can do to play in Elk Grove and Foskett seemed a better solution than cancelling divisions ... Good luck!

staff..booking your hotels are not really price effective....when priceline can give us a room for $30-40 cheaper a nite....why would we ..who are on fixed budgets pay the extra for a room when we can find them cheaper...your rooms are not the best bargins..or even close to being ones......vegas last yr i got my room thru priceline for $25 a nite.....and yours were what.....so yes changing locations is a problem......so when you say elk grove for a certain age group and we book for there...and oh why would we book north sac/roseville and drive down to elk grove in the first place when we can book elk grove....

dog ... You are the "Priceline Prince" and we've laughed a lot about some of the deals you get ... That's fine for you ... But from our viewpoint this week, if we had cancelled the division(s) we thought were going to play at Elk Grove Park and refunded the entry fees 100% instead of procuring another (and better) place to play, would those who booked that way get their money back from Priceline? ... Don't think so ... That's simply the risk you run with that booking arrangement ... We made the best and only decision we could in light of last moment changes in field availability, and the only way to prevent something like this from happening extremely rarely is to simply NOT announce field assignments until the schedules are released ... Which would you advise?

no priceline doesn't give back our money if we bid....we can pruchase ins to protect our investment in our rooms....if we like......still the tourney was scheduled for a certain area then changed to a hr's drive north.....and really when was the last time you actually gave a refund for a tourney....i have always seen a voucher for a future tourney given out.....at least for us here in texas.....also we do like to book in advance so we can save even more money.....also we should know the fields being used so we can make our arrangements......for the money we spend thats the least you should provide us.......give us a location.....

dog ... Seems like we agree on the desirability to publish TENTATIVE site information as soon as reasonably possible ... In response to your question, we routinely issue tournament refund checks, most recently yesterday ... The policy in Sacramento is that the team can ask for a refund check OR a credit for a future event, and that choice is solely the team's option ...

For the NorCal event, we provided the field information based on the best field inventory information we had at the time we made the announcement ... That availability was changed by Elk Grove Parks and Rec, NOT by us ... We responded by acquiring another, and better, facility to allow the tournament to proceed for all teams that entered ... To allege that doing so was somehow a failure in customer service or requires an apology for circumstances that were neither our causation nor within our control is ludicrous ...

my answer to that is....lock down your sites before telling us....to me that sounds like a good business there......also we don't seem to get the choice out here in texas....its just a credit...from what i have seen....

dog ... In complete good faith, we thought we had them locked down ... Elk Grove Parks & Rec. sprang this on us late Thursday ... Sometimes "stuff" just happens despite everyone's best intentions ...

Seems like a good time to tell Elk Grove that you will NEVER use their facilities again.
