getting 3 games vs our 5
well again texas half century taking our money and not giving the product promised....yes it rained first day and we couldn't play....we asked if we could get a refund... told no (we could have a partial credit is what we were told......if we didn't want to play)and we were gonna play friday....we got to play 3 games with a 1-1 count...but then he allowed an extra foul...no time saved there...just punishing the pitcher......but hey what can you expect.......

Mad dog, Based on the weather we were lucky to play any games this weekend. Grounds crew did a super job getting fields ready for Friday, I would have bet the farm we wouldn't play at all. we needed to play and 3 games are better then nothing. Patch for winning was kind of chessey but who needs another t-shirt.

JB yes we got to play, but we were basically threaten to play or loose our money.....let me ask you this...if you go to place of business that decides to only give 3/5's of the product they advertise....do you buy it....without any money back.....just saying....also those patches must have set him back 10 cent a piece....wow.......would rather have had a shirt.....

We weren't getting our money back one way or other, they would have just applied it to next THC??? right or wrong.

Remember the good 'ol days when a club would win a tourney, were given most of the time individual trophies, a nice Sponsor trophy to take home and perhaps a t-shirt and in some large tourneys, a jacket or better. I remember playing in a big Class "A" tourney that a "Beer Ticket" provided by a local bar was given to a player by the Umpire as he touched Home Plate upon hitting a home run (and not with these "high-tech bats" of today). Local bar was packed all weekend.

I for one, am very unhappy with the way the THCC/SSUSA tournaments are run. I could set here and tell you all the things that were done wrong at the tournament this past weekend, ( Heart of Texas )but this box is not big enough. I will tell you this. There are a whole lot of Managers who now feel the same way I feel. I was lied to, and that's all that needs to be said, and I also wasn't the only one. I have supported THCC/SSUSA very loyally for the last eight years as a manager, and sponsor of my team, but in the future, at least until some changes are made, I will play other tournaments. I usually play all the local, and state wide SSUSA/THCC tournaments, but in the future I will qualify my team at ElPaso, and play the State Championship, and that is all for THCC. This is supposed to be fun. Parker's tournaments always have issues, and its not because of weather, or facilities, or anything other than Parker. It's always about Parker, and not about team support, team managers, THCC, or SSUSA. It's always what's best for Parker. Done

How about:
Boycott their events. A lot of no interest &\or shows or teams that usually show should hurt them.
Money is the driving force these days, hurt them in the pocket book.

The one common denominator with all this complaints is this director named Parker, maybe SSUSA should think about getting someone else to represent them here in Texas..

JB, we were told at the managers meeting that if we left we would not be refunded and would only receive a partial credit towards a future THCC tournament. The reason given was "because the tournament had been started". No games played and no chance of playing Thursday. We were also told we'd be contacted later in the day with a revised schedule. No calls, text, or emails were ever sent or received. Finally got ahold of Keith around 6:30 pm and was told to show up at 8:00 am ready to play. Total confusion reigned with only 3 games played in an abbreviated format. Cheap awards (50 cent patches) and no partial credits given. Texas State Championships will be our last tourney this year if THCC is involved.

Awards for first place, 10 cent patch, was a waste of money, should have at least given each team member at a free hot dog.

Only been playing senior ball in Texas for 3 years now, so I don't know ALL the history with the tournaments here, but speaking as a player ALL we want to do is play! Saturday there was a lot of confusion about playing times and bracket placement, but we just figured it was mostly due to horrible weather we had here all week. (Thursday the fields were under water.) The tournament had to be condensed or backed up some to get all the games in. We played our first game at 8:00AM and didn't play again until 4:30. We just dealt with it best we could. We cooked out, hit some, and tried to make the best out of a negative situation. I don't know Mr. Parker. Never met the man, but it can't be easy to run a good size tournament like that, especially with ALL the bad weather and delays. I'm sure mistakes were made and some things could've been handled differently in hindsight. You gentlemen who have been here longer know a lot more about any issues than I do. Why hasn't anything been done about what you all say are the problems? I sure hope teams don't start boycotting the tournaments. Again, we just want to play ball.

Unfortunate for rain outs but it happens.
You might consider getting a Farmers Almanac for they are pretty accurate...however the weather patterns have been changing the last couple years so they could be wrong now...I haven't used one for the last two years.
Checking on weather forecast far ahead of game days and long before time runs out to cancel with no loss of monies is important.

I understand Keith Parker left the tournament to go watch his son play ball.

I got up at 6 AM Friday morning for the three-hour drive to Georgetown. Arrived about 10:30 for our game that was supposed to start at 11:45. We were pushed back to about 1:30. We then played three games in a row, sat for a game and then played two back to back. We left the park at 10:30. Grabbed a bite and got to the hotel around 11:30. We were told we had an 8:00 AM game. Again we were pushed back to around 9:30. We then played two games back to back.

In essence, we played seven games in less than a 24 span with very little rest.

@The Screamer5 ~ Everyone wants to play ball, but nobody likes to get the runaround. It seems to happen more often than not. Communication is key and people shouldn't have to drive hours to sit in a hotel room with little to no money returned.

P. S. ~ I did overhear a few heated words from managers on the phone with said, Mr. Parker. Just saying.

Wayne 37, Couldn't agree with you more sir. But to your point, everyone has a horror story or two to tell about dealing with negative tournament circumstances in their career. For some reason, it still doesn't stop "us" from coming. I was there in Georgetown Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I saw 40 plus teams competing and getting it in, despite all the confusion, bad weather, schedule changes and delays! (Not a bad turnout for the year's first qualifier.) My point is, most of us as senior softball players aren't too bright at times. We play hurt; we play injured; we sometimes play on horrible fields and in bad weather conditions; we play against our doctor's orders; and a lot of times we play against our spouses' or significant others' orders. We play for a love of the game! Now according to a lot of you all, the TD had a bad week in Georgetown. Some of you say he has had several bad weeks in the past. But we all still show up for the tournaments to play. I guess I haven't been around here long enough and maybe too naïve to care or worry about what the TD is doing. I can only assume he is doing his best! Give me a game time, an opposing team, and an umpire and I'm there. That's just me.

Mad Dog...I respect and can appreciate everything you've said. I'm only saying all the complaining about the situation or about a specific individual don't really accomplish anything. If things are as bad as you say, why hasn't anything been done about it in all this time? Personally, I refuse to allow anyone, let alone a TD spoil the fun I have competing and playing the game. It's truly a blessing to still be playing ball at my age. I take none of it for granted. I come out to play for the competition, the camaraderie and the friendships. No one likes get the runaround or miscommunication during a tournament. But with ALL the complaints should come some possible solutions.
