May 24, 2016 TrooperJim 3 posts | Player touches batting mat after home run In a game last week, the bases were loaded, two outs and the batter hits a grand slam over the fence home run. After the ball clears the fence, the runner on third ran home but touched the home plate mat, not the auxiliary plate. After lengthy discussion, it was decided the runner was out and no runs counted. I have issue with this. (I was not directly involved in this game but I am a board member of our league) The question is, once the ball clears the field, it is a dead ball. So when the runner hit the strike mat, is he still out? The rule book states live ball involving the mat. And the book states this ball is now dead once it is out of the playing field. Also, the runners and batters are no longer required to run the bases, hit and sit rule. I would like to hear what would be an official ruling on this. We have several board members in disagreement on this. Thanks |

They hit a HR over the fence on hit and sit situation but keeps the bat on hand and touches first base while still holding the bat...He is out and don't runs count (again depending on the assoc). The question is why we do what we do? PR NINJA OUT JESUS TE AMA!!! |
