ComBat
I have been reading alot about bats lately on this message board. I have a new Ultra II all broken in. I just recieved a new Com Bat 28oz end loaded By Anaconda. I used it tonight at indoor batting practice. At first it was like hitting with a pipe. I rotated it a little after each hit. I hit around 80 pitched balls. At the end, the balls started to jump a little. How many balls have to be hit, before it might be considered broke in?

Hey Gene,
Happy New Year.
The manufacturing process of bats like the Combat
is an inexact science.
Some are longer, shorter, heavier, thinner or thicker
in ways that can make a difference in a bat.
Some will take more hard swings to loosen up
then others.
I have 2 Combats, now.
And 2 more that have cracked and been thrown away.
My first one has close to 400 swings on it
and only in the last 50 has it gotten disgustingly
hot.
My second one has only 40 swings on it
and it's good but nowhere near the other one.
Caveat Emptor, always but
I haven't liked a bat more than these Combats
since the grey Ultra came out.

Gene I got to hit to today in Las Vegas 65 degrees or so. I broke out a brand new Combat and hit 25 pitches with it. The bat was already spider webbing and started to fell real good. I'll hit again tomorrow and expect to put another 25 on it. I would feel comfortable using this bat in a tournament after that. My gamer I would echo what Einstein is saying. That bat I have been using for the last 12 tournaments or so and in the last two tournaments the results have been dramatic for me. By the way thanks to some of the Vegas seniors for letting me get out and hit the last couple of weeks with them appreciate allowing me to get some practice in.

It was about 65-70 indoor last night, and we were using good balls that were hand pitched Utrip style. There is not the normal "Spider Webbing", these are "Even Straight Line Fractures" all over the htting surface. I have never seen this before. I got in about 80 hits last night. I will give it some more hits/time, to see if it comes around.

Einstein: You got to love the "Free Market" and Latin (Barium Enema). People produce items that have no warranty, and we scoop them up at $200.00 a pop, and for what...a little more edge. Hey....anything out of the Summit?

Thank's guys, I will report on it's progress later.
