Rule or Common Sense
If a courtesy runner is injured while running the bases, what is the reasoning behind not allowing a second courtesy runner from taking his place?

Only reason I can think of is we have the most liberal courtesy runner options in softball and making them any more liberal might just destroy the conservative party. Wait, that's already happening!

Rule 8.5(3)A courtesy runner may not be replaced by another runner except for injury causing removal of the original runner permanently from the game. Decision by TD in Reno was incorrect.

I know what the rules states, but if it is the RR game, I will let the other team get a 2nd courtesy runner and tell them I will not protest it. have done it before.
If it is in a bracket game, I have to go by the rules no matter what common sense says.

I should have said causes removal of the original courtesy runner permanently from the game. not original runner.

JBTexas ... You are 100% correct in both posts ... I am the Director who blew the call/ruling in Reno ... My apologies, and it won't happen again on this issue!

Thanks, Dave I was the runner(Courtesy) who pulled a hammy, but two walks followed and fly-out so I didn't have a push it, but if a ball was hit in the gap and who knows. Good news fully recovered and already for Texas Stare Championship next week. See you next week.
