Batting tee
Any comments on whether batting tees are helpful in re-habbing your swing after surgery?
Which brands are the best for softball?

I use mine all the time and I am a pre rotator cuff patient. I find it helps me with better mechanics and I might add I am not a HR hitter so hitting the holes and flat shots are a must in my view.

Thanks Surf; had 2nd rotator cuff repair 3 weeks ago & hoping to be able to play again by August or September.
Sounds like the tee might be a good rehab tool for rebuilding the swing.

I returned to playing softball 3 years ago, when I turned 50, and started using a batting tee to work on my swing. I started with the cheap $20.00 batting tees that the kids use, but they would only last about 3 months before they would split. Went through about 4 of them and finally decided to buy something that would last. Found the Jugs 5-Point Batting Tee. Didn’t want to spend $70.00 on a batting tee, but glad I did. This thing is heavy and built to last. The entire team could hit off this thing all year without damaging it. I’m confident this is the last batting tee I’ll ever buy. Best price I found was at academy sports. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/jugs-5-point-batting-tee#repChildCatid=37502

Now do I think hitting off a tee will help rehab your swing? YES!! I still hit off the tee several times a week. I’ve heard MLB players use batting tees to work on mechanics. Over the years of helping my kids I learned a lot about hitting that I never learned when I was young. So when I started playing again I thought I’d try to incorporate some of the things I had learned. I had to break myself of old habits and swing enough so muscle memory would take over with the correct hitting mechanics. Hitting off the tee helps me to do that. I’m fortunate to live in the Midwest (or not) and have a basement to practice in. I use the Jugs Lite-Flite Softballs (http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/jugs-lite-flite-softballs-6-pack#repChildCatid=37616) to hit off the tee (into a net) indoors. These balls are made of a light soft rubber material and can be hit into a net, fence, or other backstop. The Lite-Flite balls allow me to practice with my game bat without shortening its life.

Hope this information helps. And FYI, first year I hit one home run, second year hit 8, and already surpassed that this year in less than two months. I believe hitting off a tee works.

Good luck with the rehab.

Don't buy a tee made of plastic. Soft rubber will last for an eon. Llabtfos hit the nail on the head so to speak.

Buy a tee that has a long platform to hit off of.

I hit off the tee all the time and very seldom ever hit live because of my schedule. Even before games I hit off the tee and might hit 4 or 5 balls before a game live but I think for form the tee works for me. I play 55 Major Plus and 50 Major. The Tanner Tee is the best one on the market in my opinion. I give hitting lessons and hit with it twice a week year round and I bought 2 Tanner Tees and still have them today and they have never tore up and I have had them 8 years.

Tanner Tees are about $70 a piece but they are worth every penny.

I have used many tees over the years. The best one is the G-tee at around $120. I have a Champro tee that is very light weight and has a base that is very stable. One telescopic piece screws into the base in seconds and extends up to 47 inches. It has a 6 1/2 inch rubber top to accommodate a softball. You rarely,if ever, knock the tee over. It cost $70 and is a good alternative( less expensive} than the G-tee that Bogie uses.

I use the G-Tee and very satisfied with the quality and durability of theTee. I put it in my bat bag (the G-Tee fits perfectly) so If I'm struggling I can go hit a few balls and work on my mechanics.

This is the one I've had for 2+ years now. Easy to pack, the top holds up very well. Like any of these products, don't over tighten the screws.
